Powered by a 3.8-liter, 260-hp DOHC V6 with variable valve timing and a 6-speed Shiftronic transmission, the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz SE combines luxury, safety, and versatility in a large front-wheel drive crossover. Like the base GLS, the SE offers traction and stability control, electronic brakeforce distribution, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, automatic headlights, six airbags (dual front, side curtains), and a tire monitor. But it adds foglights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and larger 18-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires to the equipment list. Rear parking sensors can also be added.
Seating seven in three rows, the 2008 Veracruz SE carries anywhere from 6-87 cubic feet of cargo, with legroom in both rear rows bigger than in the Santa Fe. The second row slides forward and split-folds 60/40, while the rear seat split-folds flat 50/50. Cupholders, rear climate control, and power outlets serve all rows. A center storage console features a cooler. The SE adds an 8-way power driver's seat, leather steering wheel trim, and a standard roof rack to the base features (power windows, locks, and mirrors, cruise control, a CD/MP3 player, satellite radio, security system, intermittent front and rear wipers, and a trip computer). There are more available options with the 2008 Veracruz SE, including a 6-CD changer and DVD system with remote and wireless headseats. Heated leather seats, a sunroof, power liftgate, and first aid kit are also available.
