Full-time AWD with a mechanical center differential improves road grip in the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz GLS AWD. Though not designed for off-roading, it does add to the level of security already offered by the GLS. Five-star crash ratings are a result of the standard 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, front and rear stabilizer bars, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, traction and stability control, and six airbags (dual front and side curtain for all three rows). Other safety features include automatic headlights, mirror turn signals, and a tire monitor. Power is supplied by a 3.8-liter, 260-hp DOHC V6 and 6-speed automatic with manual mode. The heavier AWD system reduces fuel economy to aroudn 15/22. Exterior design elements include a rear spoiler, step boards, and a front air dam.
The 2008 Veracruz GLS AWD seats seven in three rows. With all rows up, the small cargo area holds only 6.5 cubic feet. With the second row slid forward and the third row folded flat, cargo space expands to 87 cubic feet. A cargo cover, tie-downs and power outlet are standard. A shelf can be added. Cupholders, power outlets, and climate control for all rows are nice conveniences. Standard features include wheel-mounted cruise and audio control, XM satellite radio and a CD/MP3 player, intermittent front and rear wipers, a full power setup, keyless entry, a trip computer, and a compass and temperature display. Options add a sunroof, heated seats, an 8-way power driver's seat, first aid kit, and leather trim. Storage options include a roof rack and tow hitch.
