2008 Honda Pilot VP 4WD Trim Overview

The Honda Pilot VP 4WD, a new trim for 2008, offers drivers an adventure-ready vehicle at an entry-level price. And even though its name (VP, for "value package") might suggest that the vehicle has been stripped down in an effort to keeps its price low, in reality the Pilot VP 4WD comes equipped with a fairly decent range of standard features.

The list of features starts off with the VTM-4 (Variable Torque Management) four-wheel-drive system, which automatically switches into extreme low-traction mode when driving on ice, mud, or loose gravel. The system also provides the Pilot VP 4WD with a towing capacity of 4,500 pounds.

Other features include rear privacy glass, a roof rack, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, machine-finished alloy wheels, and a seven-speaker AM/FM stereo system with XM satellite radio and a six-disc CD changer.

Other standard features include antilock brakes, traction control, Brake Assist, a tire-pressure monitoring system, power windows and door locks, cruise control, and a remote entry system.

Under the hood of the 2008 Pilot VP 4WD, Honda dropped a 3.5-liter, single-overhead-cam i-VTEC V6 engine that produces 244 horsepower. It links to a five-speed automatic transmission.
