Fun-to-drive Basic Transportation - And Then Some... — I think I've owned the Honda Fit Sport long enough to give an unbiased review. Is 14k miles enough? hehe After having owned 1 Chevrolet and 3 Saturns, a chain of events led me to want to buy something safe, yet economical. I decided on the Honda Fit Sport. On top of standard ABS with EBD, Front, Side, & Side Curtain Airbags, the Sport came with a body kit, alloy wheels, cruise control. fog lamps, and an upgraded stereo. My Fit Sport is also equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission, a class exclusive. The AT on the Sport also comes with paddle shifter. The high-revving 1.5L engine produces 109 bhp & 105 lb/ft torque. The acceleration is about normal for a car of this size. The brakes bring the car to a stop nicely. Steering and handling are some of the Fit's high points. I've improved upon that by changing out the spring and installing an Eibach Pro Kit, which while improving handling also lowers the car around 1.5 inches. As a side note, be careful when driving a lowered car, especially around curbs, dips, and speed bumps. Also, the A/C is adequate, but not up to par with one from General Motors. This may be expected from the combination of a small motor and the fact that this car wasn't originally meant for the US market. There is also a lack of automatic locks, which lock the car either when you put the car in gear or start rolling forward. Whenever you take a drive, try to get into the habit of locking the doors manually. In addition, the stock Dunlop tires are amongst the worst tires I've ever ridden. You feel it in wet weather. I can't wait for them to wear down so I can get a better set of tires. Inside, the controls are laid out nicely and don't look cheap. I just wish the windshield wipers had a way to adjust the speed in intermittent mode, instead of just having one set speed. Same goes for the rear wiper; you can only have it on or off. The seats are comfortable enough, but you can easily get tired on long trips. There is also no center console to rest your right arm. This generation Fit has no dead pedal to rest your left foot, but I remedied this buy buying one made by an aftermarket parts company. It fitted nicely and does not detract. Since the gas tank is underneath the driver and front passenger, the foot well in the back seat area is deep, making for plenty of room. My boss sat in the back once, and she had no complaints. Also, with the "Magic Seats", as Honda calls the rear seats, they can make for much cargo room by folding them down flat, among other positions. Being made in Japan and shipped to the US, this car is mostly solid. There have been a few rattles here and there, but from what I've heard, that can be typical of Hondas. I've only had two oil changes done on the car. I've followed the Maintenance Minder on the car, which takes some guess work out of when you need to change your oil. Except for the rattles, this car is solid. The Fit looks good from the outside, if a bit quirky from the front. I prefer the look of the 2009 Fit, but the 2008 looks fine, especially the Sport model. As for fuel economy, I've been averaging around 29 MPG in a mix of city & highway driving. Please note that I do drive a bit more aggressively than most others. When setting the cruise control on longer highway trips, I've gotten in the mid to upper 30s. The Fit's gas tank is small at only 10.8 gallons. You may have to fill up more often than others, depending on your commute, but you still get great, if not the best, gas mileage, depending on your driving style and how much you use the freeway. In conclusion, this car is nimble, nifty, and a pleasure to drive. The Fit has consistently scored high in its class. I just hope people keep buying smaller cars. While at this point (Jan 09) when gas prices have cooled down, I can only be sure that it will go back up. The Fit deserves consideration.

Pros

Light on gas 33 city  38 hwy are fed numbers.  Very nimble, fly by wire
throttle, peppy, tons of room, very quiet and smooth riding car

Cons

little light on power but has enough to do what it's intended to do.
Should have darker tint option, AC struggles in 90+ sun

Hot Little Gas Sipper — Not as small as you might think, especially on the inside. Fun to drive especially the Manual Transmission. My family of four fits perfectly fine and still tones of room for groceries and such.

I Fit — I saw this car on TV on day like a year ago when it first came to the states. Then I was in several car mags that I read winning against car like the Yaris and the Rio, and the once king of the sub compact the vw rabbit. So I went for a drive only to find out that all my local dealership had sold every one so I waited for 6 months and mine came in. I loved it. Also you should note I am 6'9'' and about 235lbs. so im not small. I fit and it a great ride. Honda has done a good job at keeping it simple and just making it a car not a dam science project. So hat off to the Honda boys. Any question just ask

Pros

-Room for 4, luggage and more!
-Handles like a Go-Kart.  A FAST Go-Kart.

Cons

-Engine is underpowered for the amazing chassis
-Drum brakes (rather than discs) in rear (which smell bad if you brake really, really hard)

A Practical 5-door That Will Bring A Smile To Your Face On The Track, Should You Go There. — The handling on this car is just fantastical. You could put as big an engine as would fit, and it would still handle like a Ferrari. (Not Quite, but you get the point. There is tons of room for a family of four to go puttering around town with, and with the great gas mileage, you wont have to fill up... well ever, so it seems. When you drive this thing hard and fast, you forget that you have two extra seats and luggage room behind you: it turns into a little sports car. It's great. Then you slam on the brakes from top speed, and you stop on the side of the road, get out and realize that you are in a 5 door little Honda again. You feel that this type of car should have a bigger name on it. Top Speed is around 165 km/h - i know that's not that impressive, but who cares, take this thing to Europe, drive the twisty roads! That's where this car was designed. Overall: great little car, and good in the eyes of the envro-guys too!

Good Outweighs The Bad. Cool Little Car! — Overall, this is an excellent quality for its class. As far as performance goes, it does not accelerate as quickly as I would like. Even so, it has very responsive steering; which makes it fun to drive. It has excellent gas mileage! Lastly, its stylish and is deceptively roomy inside.

Pros

You value utility, fun to drive character, worry free ownership and place substance over style.

Cons

You need brisk acceleration.

35

If You Carry An Open Mind Into Driving This Car You're Bound To Fall In Love. — Acceleration is adequate, for a 1.5L engine with 109 horsepower it's actually fairly quick assuming you opt for the manual transmission. Build quality is stellar, definitely up to Honda standards. Interior styling is simple and functional and everything is within easy reach. Exterior styling is not the greatest aspect but its a small price to pay for the versatility and flexibility of the cargo area and rear seats, you really can fit anything back there. Gas mileage is often in the mid 30s but you can acheive better mileage should you choose to drive more sedately. 28,000kms and no issues with the car aside from regular maintenance. The car is awesome around corners and you could easily kill most other cars in the corners, think Mini only with more versatility.

Pros

A very spacious and versatile car. There's something in it for everyone.

Cons

A Type-R version or a K20 installation would be nice.

Spacious. Practical. Fun. — Not muscular but definitely enough power to get up and go. Really fun and easy to drive. Superb handling. Durable, comfortable, and extremely spacious. Space and practicality is definitely an advantage. Great stereo system; simple yet straight forward dashboard display.

08 Fit — 1.5L 4 cylinder. Decent acceleration and stops on the dime. Could use a 6th gear or different ratios. Still relatively new so no major problems to speak of yet. Looks okay. I'm not a fan of the small box type cars. This basically looks like a more aggressive PT Cruiser. Interior is pretty basic. Seats are not too comfortable after driving for an hour or more. Did not come with floor mats... Good gas mileage. about 28 city 35 highway. Too new to say on maintenance. I enjoy driving this car (it's my dads) only because it is manual. Plus it is good on gas so as a commuter it is not too bad. If it was automatic I probably would not drive it that much.

Interior is functional and clean, Comfortable, Magic seats are something you can't live without, AFFORDABLE, MP3, Great Sound, Kart like handling, cup holders galore, gas mileage, Best hatch you could own for the price, nuts to SUV's

Cons

no arm rest (but you forget about needing it after the first day) offered in '09.

The Fit Is Go!!!! — There isn't anything wrong with the fit, it is the most practical and sporty car you can get with this kind of functionality. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone and do. So if your looking for a car that you can slide a 4.5' bookshelf in without laying the seats down this is your ride, or a Llama it's all good it will take it. The gas mileage is better than what it is rated at with highs of 44 in prime conditions (flat road, on cruise at 65) I have also found that I get close to the same mileage at 80 that I do at 65, so you don't have to sacrifice speed for gas mileage. Oh, and did I mention that it handles like a go kart.....no, well I did now. This thing tucks into the corners better than most coupes. So long story short....shut up and buy one. Word
