The GT Premium convertible occupies the spot as the top-level Mustang drop-top available for 2008. That high-end spot comes courtesy of a 300-horsepower, 4.6-liter, double-overhead-cam V8 engine, as well as an expanded list of standard features that includes sport bucket seats with leather seating surfaces and a six-speaker Shaker 500 stereo system with a six-disc CD changer and an MP3 input jack.
The engine links to a either a standard Tremec T5 five-speed manual overdrive transmission or an optional five-speed.
A cloth convertible top provides the open-air driving experience. Standard features for the rear-wheel-drive Mustang GT Premium convertible also include a keyless entry system, a tilt steering wheel, power rack-and-pinion steering, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, and power side mirrors.
Power four-wheel disc brakes with Brembo front rotors provide stopping power, aided by an antilock braking system with traction control. For safety features, the Mustang GT Deluxe convertible comes with new side impact airbags, complex reflector halogen headlamps, a SecuriLock passive anti-theft system, and side-door intrusion beams.
Ford also offers nearly a dozen upgrade packages for the 2008 Mustang, including Comfort, Appearance, Sport, and Color Accent packages.
