CarGurus Overview

The GT Premium two-door coupe holds the honor as the high-end Mustang available for 2008, and is geared toward discerning drivers who demand race-car power, muscular good looks, and upscale amenities. Under the long hood of the GT Premium resides a 4.6-liter, double-overhead-cam V8 engine that produces 300 horsepower. The engine links to either a standard Tremec T5 five-speed manual overdrive transmission or an optional five-speed.

The GT Premium's long list of features includes sport bucket seats with leather seating surfaces and a six-speaker Shaker 500 stereo system with a six-disc CD changer and an MP3 input jack. Other standard features for the rear-wheel-drive Mustang GT Premium include a keyless entry system, a tilt steering wheel, power rack-and-pinion steering, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, and power side mirrors.

Power four-wheel disc brakes with Brembo front rotors provide stopping power, aided by an antilock braking system with traction control. For safety features, the Mustang GT Deluxe convertible comes with new side impact airbags, complex reflector halogen headlamps, a SecuriLock passive anti-theft system, and side-door intrusion beams.

Ford also offers nearly a dozen upgrade packages for the 2008 Mustang, including Comfort, Appearance, Sport, and Color Accent packages.

This overview covers the GT Premium trim only.
