CarGurus Overview
The entry-level 2008 Expedition XLT 4WD adds Ford's ControlTrac 4X4 System to the XLT's list of standard features. ControlTrac gives drivers the capability to control the 4X4 system by turning a rotary knob to select high or low four-wheel-drive mode, switch to 4X4 Auto, which transfers power to the appropriate wheels, or switch to two-wheel-drive mode.
Although the XLT comes with a limited list of standard features, it still includes AdvanceTrac traction control with Roll Stability Control (RSC), a four-wheel antilock braking system with brake assist, Ford's Safety Canopy system with front and side airbags, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Other standard features include first-row cloth captain's chairs, power windows and door locks, speed control, an MP3 input jack for the six-speaker AM/FM/CD sound system, rear-floor heat ducts, a full-length overhead console, and a keyless entry keypad, which is a new feature for 2008.
A 300-horsepower, 5.4-liter V8 engine ably drives the Expedition XLT, though gas mileage suffers. The engine links to a smooth-shifting six-speed overdrive transmission.
The Expedition XLT 4WD seats eight passengers. A fully boxed frame, independent rear suspension, front fog lights, and an underbody full-size spare tire are among its other features.
This overview covers the XLT 4WD trim only.
