CarGurus Overview
So despite the available 5.7-liter, 340-hp V8 HEMI engine, the 2008 Chrysler 300 failed to pack the power you demand in a full-size sedan. For those who want some extra substance to go along with this stylish frame and ride, Chrysler offers the 300C SRT8. This model houses an industrial-strength 6.1-liter, 425-hp V8 HEMI engine with five-speed automatic transmission and comes in one basic trim. As with the 300, the 300C SRT8 has 4 doors, seats 5, and trunk space comes out to around 15.6 cubic feet.
When it comes to acceleration, you'll have a hard time finding a big sedan that can match the 300C SRT8's 5.0-second sprint from 0-60 mph. Expect somewhere in the range of 13 mpg in the city and 16-17 on the highway for gas mileage. Standard features include stability control, traction control, and antilock brakes. Otherwise, expect the same level of functionality as you would with the regular 300, including new Sirius Backseat TV and a re-designed control panel. You'll also find similar interior and exterior styling updates.
Overall, think of the Chrysler 300C SRT8 as a seriously beefed-up version of the 300. Critics like its off-the-charts acceleration and top-notch handling. For all the power in the V8, you won't hear too much noise compared to the other members of the 300 family, and overall it rates slightly higher than the 300C. Interior room and comfort also get solid marks, and value within its class comes out a little better than the base 300 LX's. While trunk room and gas mileage won't challenge the industry leaders anytime soon, the sheer horsepower and style will probably make you forget that for the time being.
This overview covers the Base trim only.
