CarGurus Overview

The 2008 Chevrolet Uplander LT Ext combines an expanded list of standard features with the extra interior space that comes with the vehicle's extended wheelbase. Chevrolet has added 13 inches to the overall length of the Uplander LT Ext, compared to standard-wheelbase trims like the LS, resulting in an extra inch and a half of legroom for second-row passengers, an extra two inches for third-row passengers, and an extra 16 cubic feet overall in cargo space. The extended version also comes with a larger 25-gallon fuel tank and has a curb weight that's about 120 pounds heavier than the standard-wheelbase Uplander.

As a step up from the Uplander LS, the LT Ext adds such features as side-impact airbags, cruise control, remote keyless entry, rear-seat air conditioning, and an overhead storage system to the standard equipment list. Power sliding side doors, power-adjustable exterior mirrors, and Solar Ray deep-tinted glass are also part of the package. In addition, the LT Ext comes with a DVD player with a flip-down screen and rear audio controls, headphone jacks, and input jacks for gaming devices.

A 240-horsepower, 3.9-liter V6 engine powers the Uplander LT Ext, while a FlexFuel engine that can accept E85 fuel (an 85-percent gasoline/15-percent ethanol blend) can be selected as an option. The engine links to a four-speed automatic transmission.

Generally, drivers give the Uplander LT Ext good marks for its interior comfort, reliability, handling, and versatility. Some drivers have noted problems with the brakes, however, and other drivers note that the vehicle can be noisy at times.

This overview covers the LT Ext trim only.
