The Chevrolet Uplander LS minivan rolls into the 2008 model year with only a few minor changes, including the addition of XM satellite radio and an MP3 player input jack for the audio system. A 240-horsepower, 3.9-liter V6 engine provides power, and the engine links to a four-speed automatic transmission.
A soft-ride suspension, rack-and-pinion power steering, and four-wheel antilock disc brakes are all standard on the Uplander LS, though some drivers have reported having braking problems with the vehicle. The StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System, which improves the vehicle's stability on slick surfaces, can be added to the equipment list as an option.
As expected with an entry-level trim, interior features are a bit sparse on the Uplander LS. Single-zone air conditioning, power windows, dual-stage front airbags, and OnStar all come standard, but side-impact airbags, cruise control, and remote keyless entry must be added as options. What's more, drivers who want to add certain entertainment options, such as a CD changer or a DVD player, must opt for a higher-level trim, since they're not available as options on the LS.
The good news is that the Uplander LS can seat up to seven passengers, thanks to three rows of seats. And to provide additional cargo space, the second and third rows of seats can be folded down or removed.
Generally, drivers report having good experiences with the Uplander, citing its handling, versatility, and safety features as among its positive points. For the most part, drivers note that the Uplander is a reliable vehicle, though some point out that it can be noisy at times.
