2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LT1 Crew Cab LB 4WD Review
Pros60,000 miles and zero repairs. It has a finer ride than any luxury car I have ever driven. Power galore. Diesel engine is smooth, quiet, and reliable. Transmission works flawlessly with engine. Fit and finish has been perfect. GM makes by far the finest HD diesel truck on the market. Cons13.5 MPG city 17.5 MPG highway. Expensive initial purchase.

Best Diesel Hd Truck — I like everything about this truck except the fuel consumption and initial price, but I knew what to expect when I bought it, so no tears. Make sure you want/need a diesel because fuel is 20% more expensive than gasoline. Then get a Chevy/GMC. It has better fit and finish than the Dodge, and is much more reliable and rides better than the Ford. The engine/transmission combination cannot be matched by either. I was very preferential to the Ford originally, but I did my homework, test drove all three and completely preferred the Chevy. Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsFor primary use... Thats an unfair question. below. I use it for everything from bringing decoys in and out of the field when I go hunting, and as daily transport to work. I also use it for towing my camper and boats. Cant pick just one. ConsParking because of its size, everything is made around economy cars these days. Since its a gasoline motor, not diesel, it sucks gas like no tomorrow.

No, Im Not Compensating, Thank You Very Much... — The buld quality is evident in the way it rides. GM really put the effort in this truck. The only complain I have is the fuel economy, and the fact that when cruising, although it saves gas, it will pop into the next gear. When you slowly accelerate (unless you push the pedal down far enough for the rpms to jump high enough) it will stay in the same gear and slowly accelerate. Thats why my next step is a tune or some sort of bolt ons. Towning with it is a breeze, Ive towed boats, and campers. Never a problem. Maintenance is pretty simple for the most part as long as your mechanically inclined. Parking can be a problem. Its got the full 4 doors and 8' bed. But I wouldnt trade it for the world. Hate To Sell But Need More Room — Performance is great. No aftermarket chip/programmer ever. Very eye- catching looks. extra fuel tank is nice so you can find cheaper diesel. Has gooseneck hitch B&W turnoverball. All maintenance has been done by chevy dealers. New tires all the way around. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Always Wants To Be Towing Something — Dislike the poor Independent front axle (GAWR) Also dislike the emissions system that is required to be put on all 2007.5 Diesels. Would prefer floor shifter 4WD rather than turn dial. Like the Allison 1000 Series 6 Speed Automatic. Could have a CUMMINS!!

The Is One Awesome Truck, I Love It. — I'm a sales professional who also has horse. I had always driven a car and kept a truck for farm duties. I rolled both vehicles into one. Viola! Chevy 2500 HD Duramax. I love the LTZ package for luxury and the heavy duty Diesel for farm. I'm the envy of all neighbors and coworkers. I would recommend this truck to everyone. Beauty and muscle combine in one package. Owner for 0 years, 8 months Miles Driven per Year:28,000

Prosbig pulling abilities, loves the hills. Consa little heavy on the fuel but the diesel engine isn't even broken in yet. Only 37,000km in the first year.

Best Damned Truck I Have Ever Owned. — I pulled my 5th wheel holiday trailer nearly 6,000km to Dawson City and back, not an ounce of problems for the whole trip. The 6.6l diesel engine eats the long hills for breakfast. Very comfortable seats for those 6 hour drives. Primary Use: Family transportation

Its Well Worth The Money If Your A Trucker, But If Not.. You May Want To Consider Something Smaller — I love chevy trucks.. the 2008 / 2009 2500HD LTZ is beyond a doubt one of the best chevy has made.. if not the best.. it handles really well for a big truck, even taking this truck off roading it handles perfectly.. the only thing that should be changed.. is the appearance, its really nice but I think GM can make it look a little more beefy Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.) |
