Moving up to the 2008 Chevrolet Express LT 1500 adds more bells and whistles, such as power windows, locks, and mirrors, remote entry, cruise control, a tilt steering wheel, cloth upholstery, and front and rear air conditioning controls. A standard exterior chrome grille is another upgrade. The rear-wheel-drive passenger van seats eight in three rows. Both second- and third-row benches are removable, if you need up to 204 cubic feet of storage space. An optional roof rack adds more space. Side access is through a 60/40-split hinged door, which can be replaced with a sliding door. Rear access is through barn doors that open 180 degrees. A 5.3-liter V8 gets 301 hp and 325 ft-lbs of torque. A flex-fuel option and a 6.0-liter, 323-hp V8 are also available. All are matched to a four-speed automatic.
Halogen headlamps are another addition to the standard features of the 2008 Express LT 1500. Also included are the new StabiliTrak system, traction control, a new tire monitor, and daytime running lights. 16-inch wheels with all-season tires, four-wheel disc and ABS brakes, and dual front-side and side curtain airbags for all three rows earn five stars in crash tests. Convenience features include intermittent wipers, privacy glass, a radio, front cupholders, and front power outlets. There are still plenty of options for the 2008 Express LT 1500. A compass and temperature display add more convenience. Wheel-mounted audio controls for either a CD player or 6-CD changer, 6-way power front seats, leather trim, a first aid kit, heated mirrors, and a tow package for towing up to 6,300 pounds are nice luxury and utilitarian add-ons.
