CarGurus Overview

New for 2008, the Chevrolet Cobalt Sport replaces the Cobalt SS, which was dropped from the lineup for '08 due to emissions regulations. And while the Cobalt Sport doesn't offer quite the power of the car it replaces, it does come with a 2.4-liter, high-output Ecotec four-cylinder engine that produces 174 horsepower, 26 more hp than the other trims in the Cobalt lineup. The upgraded engine results in good acceleration, though fuel efficiency suffers just a bit.

Early reviewers have found the Cobalt Sport to be a well-built and reliable subcompact, with a smooth ride and responsive handling. It comes well-equipped with such standard features as traction control and antilock brakes. New features for 2008 include a tire-pressure monitoring system, side-curtain airbags, and XM satellite. Power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, and air conditioning also come standard on the Sport trim, while options such as leather seats, a power sunroof, and traction control are available for those who want a more luxurious interior.

Despite its size, the Cobalt Sport's interior offers plenty of room, according to drivers and reviews. Legroom in the rear can be tight for adults, however.

This overview covers the Sport trim only.
