CarGurus Overview
Chevrolet's Cobalt LT1 subcompact coupe receives a few minor updates for 2008, including a tire-pressure monitoring system, side-curtain airbags, and XM satellite radio. Other standard features for the LT1 Coupe include power windows, a remote keyless entry system, air conditioning, antilock brakes, traction control, and OnStar.
As in last year's car, a 148-horsepower, 2.2-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine powers the front-wheel-drive Cobalt LT1 Coupe. The lightweight aluminum engine has a rigid structure and counter-rotating balance shafts, which help reduce vibration and engine noise, according to Chevy. The fuel-efficient engine links to a five-speed manual transmission, which is standard, or an optional four-speed automatic.
Generally, drivers and reviewers give the Chevy Cobalt LT1 Coupe high marks for its economy, build quality, handling, and interior comfort, although they note that the rear seat is small and rear legroom is lacking. In addition, access to the backseat can be tricky due to the coupe's long doors.
This overview covers the LT1 Coupe trim only.
