CarGurus Overview
2008 Chevrolet Avalanche LT2 4WD
Though the 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche LT2 4WD comes with high- and low-range gearing and 9 inches of ground clearance, it is best taken off-road when combined with the optional off-road package, skid plates, and larger 20-inch wheels (replacing the standard 17-inch all-season tires). The on-demand system features mechanical and center locking differentials, with a rear locking differential available.
The sure-footed ride is powered by a 320-hp, 5.3-liter V8 and 4-speed automatic transmission that provides 340 ft-lbs of torque. Four-wheel disc and ABS brakes, stability control with rollover sensors, dual front and side impact airbags, automatic headlights, halogen lamps, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and tire monitor are standard. The 2008 Avalanche LT2 4WD also adds standard foglights. A rearview camera, first aid kit, and rain-sensing wipers are optional.
The truck can be configured to seat six in two rows, with each row getting cupholders, a power outlet, and audio controls. In this setting, the bed holds 45 cubic feet and is just over 5 feet long. Tie-downs, a cover, and lockbox are included. A trailer hitch is standard (capacity up to 8,000 pounds), and a roof rack is available. Remove the midgate wall and window, and you now have room for three passengers, but you get an 8-foot bed. Convenience features upgrade to a 6-CD changer with MP3 input, leather upholstery, power-adjustable pedals, remote start, a garage opener, and wood trim. These are in addition to cruise control, intermittent wipers, full power features, remote entry, 6-way power front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a security system. Options add a navigation system, DVD player, Bose sound system, and a sunroof.
2008 Chevrolet Avalanche LT2
For a pickup, the 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche LT2 acts a lot like an SUV in terms of comfort and convenience. It upgrades significantly from the LT1 by adding standard power-adjustable pedals, a 6-CD changer with radio data, leather upholstery, remote start, a garage opener, a trip computer, foglights, and interior wood trim. In addition to the cargo cover and tie-downs, the pickup bed also comes with a lockable storage box.
The 2008 Avalanche LT2 is powered by a 320-hp, 5.3-liter V8 and 4-speed automatic. It rides on 17-inch wheels with all-season tires. Safety equipment includes 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, dual front and side impact airbags and stability control, which earns the pickup five stars in crash tests. Though rollover sensors are also included, the LT2 rates only three stars in this category. Automatic headlights, halogen lamps, a tire monitor, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are also standard. A parking assist system, rearview camera, first aid kit, and rain-sensing wipers can be added. An off-road package, skid plates, side step rails, and both 18-inch and 20-inch tires are also available.
Full power features include remote entry, 6-way power front seats, heated folding mirrors, wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, and intermittent wipers. Dual-zone climate control, eight cupholders, and four power outlets (3 front, 1 in the rear) provide comfort and convenience. Along with the trip computer comes a temperature and compass display and tachometer. Leather trim combines with the wood accents for a definitely non-pickup feel. The LT2 seats six with a 5.2-foot bed, which expands to 8 feet when the midgate wall is removed. It comes pre-wired for towing up to 8,200 pounds. Moving up to the 2008 Avalanche LT2 gets you a navigation system option, along with a DVD player and a sunroof.
