2007 Scion tC Base Auto Review
ProsNice look, good power, good price, decent gas mileage, fun to drive, no known mechanical problems. ConsNot super fast, makes rattling noises over rough surfaces, tires are expensive to replace, gas mileage not as good as what you might expect from a compact, not the most capable car for driving on snow and ice.

Lots Of Car For The Money — Performance - Above average for cars in its class; could be faster with the addition of aftermarket upgrades. Overall performance is not bad at all considering price, engine size, and fuel economy. Build Quality - Some rattling, especially when traveling over rough surfaces, but this is easily compensated for by turning up the excellent sound system. 2 years old, over 30k miles, and no mechanical problems yet. Appearance - Love the exterior styling; recommend adding a spoiler to complete the look. Interior styling is decent overall; nothing spectacular, but no complaints. Cost of Ownership - Gas mileage is fairly decent, close to 30 MPG with mostly highway driving. City driving takes a toll, especially if you're heavy on the accelerator pedal like I am, but still in the low- to mid-20 MPG range. Maintenance costs are predictably high when serviced at a dealership, but so far it hasn't needed anything aside from regularly scheduled maintenance. Go easy on the tires, they're not cheap to replace. Fun Factor - Definitely fun to drive, especially with dealership-installed TRD suspension upgrades. Peppy and tight on turns (with the upgrades), the upscale tires have pretty nice grip in most weather, not so much in snow and ice. Not fun to drive in the winter in snowy regions, unless you enjoy fear and white-knuckled driving. Not impossible either, the car is capable of winter driving, but snow tires couldn't hurt. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsGood maneuverability, sharp acceleration, good gas mileage ConsLonger braking distance, lack of ESC

Definitely A Hot Sporty Car — Performance was great, and handling was smooth. The tyre noise in the freeway was sometimes bit excessive. Brake performance diminished in the later stage. I was able to get 32-35 miles per gallon on this baby in the interstate, driving @ 70mph. This car could use a better braking, and ESC should be standard. Overall, a fun machine to be in!!

ProsVery attractive styling. Reliable, mechanically. Adequate acceleration/handling. Multitude of options. Very intuitive and easy to use controls. ConsMost options are purely cosmetic. Certain unimportant plastic pieces on interior not applied/installed properly. Numb steering feel.

Mechanically Sound, But Lacking In Fit-and-finish. — Overall, a solid car. Considering the things that matter, it is both reliable and consistent. However, the smaller things are not as worry-free. For instance, the iPod connection with the upgraded head unit is a bit hit-or-miss. Occasionally the connection will simply cease functioning properly for no apparent reason. Also, the plastic ring around the shift lever is not totally attached it would seem, and it's the same for the plastic piece on the right side of the steering wheel. They are small issues, and easily forgotten about, but they are nagging at first. It isn't an overly fast or agile car, but it is more than adequate for everyday driving. For a real performance enthusiast however, it would require extensive upgrades to get this car up to snuff. By and large, for the average driver, it is a sound vehicle that would offer largely worry-free driving for quite some time.

ProsI love everything about this car! ConsI do not like getting in and out of the back seat.

Fun And Maintenance Free — This is a very fun car to drive. It handles well and has decent acceleration and braking. Not much maintenance is needed. I have 110000+ miles and have only needed fluids replaced, tires, and front brake pads. I average about 29 miles per gallon. Runs great in snow with the right tires. ProsFun, fast, reliable, and inexpensive ConsSmall and low to the ground

Love This Car, It's My First Scion And Definitely Will Not Be My Last — 2.4L Inline 4 163 hp/160 lb ft torque 5-speed manual It's a Toyota, which can mean whatever you take it as. I like it, I find it to be very reliable, very affordable (27/31mpgs), and very fun. The Spec is a model that is like a new canvas type Scion: It is specifically made to be modified. TRD equipment is abundant, and depending upon my financial situation I could have this car fully modified before it's paid for. I would recommend this car to anyone looking to buy one. ProsFun, Cheap, Toyota Quality, Plenty of options. ConsIf you want a comfortable car and 4 doors.

Great And I Recommend It. — Performance - Very torquey 4 cylinder with plenty of get up and go. Tops out at 127-128mph. Plenty of room to improve the engine (supports 300HP with no internal work). I have cornered this car very aggressively and it has yet to give out. Suspension is comfortable and sporty. 4-wheel disk brakes are very good and stop on a dime. Build Quality - 60K miles and nothing has needed replaced. Inside materials are lexus quality and nothing has come undone as of yet. The extra sound damping material helps and makes the car's 160W pioneer stereo sound great. Appearance - Have gotten nothing but praise for the look of the car and is very fun to drive out in public. Cost of Ownership - I get high 20's, low 30's routinely driving to school each day. 14.5 gallon tank lasts me a week, which is great considering how much I drive and how small the tank is. As said before I have not done any maintenance on the car. Fun Factor - It's a blast to drive and wants to be pushed harder. Very fun to turn corners at high speeds and still have good control over the car. Overall a very fun car with all the options you could as for stock and then some. Has great modding potential, as that was the main focus of the Scion line, and it shows. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Scion Tc — the scion tc its one of the most fun cars i have ever gotten to drive. Horsepower could have been a little better, but its a very fun car to drive regardless. Gas consumption is better than average for a sporty car. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Nimmo Tc — Car has nice styling and is well built. Performance could be better, but I am sure it would be great if I had the TRD Supercharger. The car sounds good because I have the TRD Exhaust added on. And since gas prices are always a factor these days, this car is a must own because it is great on gas! ProsGood Power, Tons of Standard Features, Good Gas Mileage, Great Aftermarketability ConsWhile the interior is roomy, for a big fella like me it took some time to adjust to

Why I Bought A Scion Tc — Performance wise, its got great torque and HP for its size. Handling is very nice around corners and just overall. The thing that sold me was all of the standard features that come at such a good price point. After buying the car, it was the ability to modify it to make it my own that really solidified my love for this automobile.

ProsSporty, fast little compact. ConsHatch rattles from time to time.

Very Fun To Drive. — The Scion tC has great acceleration, the braking distance is short with all wheel discs, and it handles wonderfully at high speeds. The hatch rattles a bit, but nothing extreme. The exterior and interior of this car is second to none. It gets around 30 miles per gallon when you can keep your foot out of it, but where is the fun in that?! It has very low maintenance costs. I have 17k miles on mine and all I have done to her is gas and oil changes. The car is very fun to drive if you get the manual option. |
