2007 Nissan Altima Trims

Avg. Price: $10,503

The 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5 is the base model mid-size sedan, and features less standard equipment than the other trims. Like all the Altimas, it sits on a new D platform, with a stronger suspension and shocks for improved performance. It has a 2.5-liter, 175-hp I4 and a 6-speed manual only. Power locks and windows are standard, but air conditioning is an option.

ABS, traction control and stability control are not offered at all, even as options, as they are on other models. Intelligent key, tilt steering, and a tire pressure monitor are some nice conveniences.

Rear seats fold 60/40 with a trunk pass-through. The 2007 Altima 2.5 is outfitted with eight cup holders for five passengers (when one cup of coffee just isn't enough).

2.5 S

Avg. Price: $10,553

Although it shares the same engine, a few extra standard features and options are what distinguishes the 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5S from the base model. The mid-sized sedan is powered by a 2.5-liter, 175-hp I4, and comes standard with a new 6-speed manual. Unlike the base model, a CVT continuously variable transmission is an option.

The 2007 Altima 2.5S also adds more conveniences, like air conditioning, cruise control (with controls on the steering wheel), a trip computer, and temperature display. A sunroof and power leather seats are optional. Front and overhead consoles offer more storage options. Traction and stability control are not available at all, though ABS is an option, and front, side, and curtain airbags are standard. Like the base model, Intelligent key and a push-button ignition are standard.

3.5 SE

Avg. Price: $12,174

A brand new engine is put into the sporty and stylish 2007 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE, making it a better performer and a more powerful ride than the I4 Altima models. With a new, stiffer platform and suspension, the 2007 Altima 3.5 SE has a 3.5-liter, 270-hp V6 and comes with either a 6-speed manual or CVT seamless shift transmission. It has a more sports-tuned suspension and larger anti-sway bars than the I4 models, and it sits on 17-inch tires.

As for standard features, those include ABS, electronic brake assist, and traction control, in addition to the already standard front, side, and curtain airbags. A power driver's seat is added to the equipment, as is one-touch power windows, leather trim, and an MP3 outlet. This is in addition to the Intelligent Key, push-button ignition, cruise control, eight cupholders, foglights, and cruise control. Option packages add a sunroof, navigation system with rearview camera, heated leather seats, upgraded audio system, and dual-zone climate control. According to owners, the CVT is a highlight, as is the extra powerful engine. A standard GPS system and better quality interior materials are some complaints.

3.5 SL

Avg. Price: $12,218

The 2007 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL is the top-of-the-line offering of this mid-sized sedan. It is fully equipped with both safety and convenience features. Its powertrain is a 3.5-liter, 270-hp V6 and a CVT auto tran. No manual is available on the SL. ABS brakes and traction control are standard, and stability control is an option. Front, side and curtain airbags are standard across the lineup.

A sports-tuned suspension, stronger shocks, and larger anti-roll bars are part of the SE and SL package. The 2007 Altima 3.5 SL adds heated leather seats in the front, a power sunroof, satellite radio, upgraded audio system, turn signals on the side mirrors, and a universal remote for a garage door. Like the SE, it also has leather trim, cruise control, front and overhead consoles, foglights, and intermittent wipers. A navigation system with rearview camera is optional, as is a rear spoiler. 2007 Altima 3.5 SL owners love the speed and power, the smooth CVT, and the elegant interior.

Avg. Price: $11,225

Brand new for 2007 is a hybrid version of the mid-sized luxury sedan Nissan Altima. Aimed at competing with the Accord, the 2007 Altima Hybrid features the 2.5-liter I4 engine, rated at 158-hp. The electric motor gets an addition 40-hp. This is a full hybrid, which means it can run on either gas, electric, or a combination. Battery power is renewed through braking. Because of this, it reportedly gets 36/41 mpg.

Standard features don't disappoint either. Power windows, locks, mirrors, and a power driver's seat are all standard. Like the V6 models, ABS and traction are standard, but on the hybrid, you also get stability control. Front, side, and curtain airbags are also included. A trip computer, cruise control, Intelligent key, front and overhead consoles, eight cupholders, tire monitor, one-touch windows, and automatic climate control let you feel safe while you're saving the environment.
