CarGurus Overview
The ultimate Endeavor combines a full goodie-bag of standard amenities with all-wheel drive capability. It's not quite a luxury SUV, but it's made in America (Illinois, to be precise), not Europe, and it has enough plushness for what it costs.
The SE trim was previously known as the Limited. As you can guess, it has a longer list of standard equipment than the LS does, and also more available options.
For starters, you get leather seating surfaces, and the premium audio system is upgraded to a 315-watt Infinity set-up with a 6-CD changer, seven speakers, and MP3 capability. The SE AWD also comes with automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob, and color multi-function display.
Besides the sought-after all-wheel drive, you'll get Mitsubishi's Active Skid & Traction Control, in addition to the safety equipment found on every other Endeavor: front and rear deformation zones, dual-stage front airbags, side-curtain airbags with roll sensors for both rows, a tire-pressure monitoring system, and daytime running lights. The ABS system features Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and there are also some anti-theft measures (coded key, engine immobilizer, and alarm) in the package.
The 225-horsepower, 3.8-liter V6 puts out 255 lb.-ft. of torque. This is not the most stalwart towing vehicle, but it can pull 3,500 pounds (when properly equipped). There is no choice of transmission: each Endeavor gets a four-speed automatic with adaptive shift technology (it adapts its shift patterns to your unique driving style) and clutchless manual mode. The SE AWD is rated by the EPA for 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
Special options packages only made available on the two SE trims are the Navigation Package (DVD-based navigation system, with Multi-Communication System and 7-inch LCD touch-screen) and the Sunroof Package (power sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, cargo cover, and fog lamps). You may also add the Hitch Receiver Package (there is also a deluxe version) and the Appearance Package (cargo tray, rear mudguards, and black side steps).
Accessories available individually consist of roof rails, a rooftop bicycle carrier, ski/snowboard carrier, sunroof wind-deflector, cargo liner, tray, net, and cover; stainless-steel exhaust tip, all-weather floor mats, hood protector, luggage basket, side steps, side-window air deflectors, smoker's kit, wheel locks, cabin air filter, iPod adapter, and rear mudguards.
Professional reviewers have said that the Endeavor handles well enough, but it will not be mistaken for a European product in this area or as far as its interior quality goes. Again, its adequate but not luxurious. The reviewers agree that the backseat is ample and the interior is sufficiently roomy.
This overview covers the SE AWD trim only.
