2007 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Trims

Avg. Price: $41,997

The biggest drawback of owning a 2007 SL55 AMG might be the fuel economy. One driver griped that he was hoping to go further than 250 miles on one tank, especially considering the SL55 AMG only takes premium fuel.

But people who spend well into the six figures for a high performance sports coupe aren't usually ones to complain. And even the stingy, gas grumbling driver praised nearly everything else about the SL55 AMG, from its fast acceleration to it "very good" handling.

The SL55 has a 5.5 liter V8 engine. The 24-valve power plant produces 476 horsepower.

The SL65 AMG produced by Mercedes-Benz for the 2007 model year is part sports coupe, part monster. Built by the AMG "tuning arm" of the luxury auto maker, it features a 6.0 liter, 36 valve, twin turbocharged V12 engine that pumps out 604 horses.

The two-seat roadster with a retractable, steel hardtop also features 738 pound-feet of torque - a seemingly limitless supply that makes it one of the best handling cars in its class.

The car is pleasing to the eyes, but ultimately, it is built for performance. The car goes from zero to 60 miles per hour in just over four seconds.
