2007 Mazda CX-9 Sport AWD Trim Overview

The automatic all-wheel-drive system in the 2007 Mazda CX-9 Sport AWD features Active Torque Split, which can transfer torque up to 50/50 between the front and rear wheels. The system provides more traction on slippery roads and comes with limited-slip center and rear differentials. It does not have low-range gearing, however, and should not be taken off-road. A 3.5-liter DOHC V6 powers the roomy crossover, delivering 263 hp and 249 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission is an Aisin 6-speed automatic with manual shift mode. For those needing towing power, an optional trailer hitch enables towing up to 3,500 pounds.

Stability and traction control, front and rear stabilizer bars, and 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution help earn five-star crash ratings. Dual front-side airbags feature passenger deactivation, and there are side curtain bags for all three rows. The 2007 CX-9 AWD rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, and a tire monitor measures pressure. The crossover seats seven in three rows. The 60/40 second row reclines, moves fore and aft 5 inches, and offers nearly 40 inches of legroom. The third row splits 50/50. The cargo area comes with tiedowns and holds 17.2 cubic feet, expanding to either 47.5 or 100 cubic feet with the various rows folded flat. Second-row passengers get their own climate control. A rear liftgate with fixed window opens onto the cargo area, and a power liftgate is available. A cargo net, cargo cover, and roof rack also cost extra.

Full power features include remote entry and wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls. A CD/MP3 player can be upgraded to a 6-CD changer with satellite radio and Bose speakers. Intermittent front and rear wipers, front and rear climate control, tilt and telescopic steering, a tachometer, an external temperature gauge, cupholders for all rows, and a front power outlet are also standard. Leather trim dresses up the steering wheel and shifter, while dual exhaust and a rear spoiler dress up the exterior. Safety options include a rearview camera and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Remote start, a power driver's seat, a DVD player, and a sunroof are extra luxury items.
