CarGurus Overview By Ann Jackman
Sitting at the top of its lineup, the 2007 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring is a sport crossover built on an independent Macpherson strut front and multilink rear suspension. It upgrades from the Touring by adding larger 20-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, foglights, and xenon HID headlamps. Side mirrors now have turn signals. Remote start (attached to a universal remote) joins the power options, along with memory settings for the driver's seat and mirrors. On the safety side, rain-sensing wipers have been added to standard equipment. Inside the cabin, wood and alloy trim join the leather accents.
Under the hood lies a 24-valve, 3.5-liter DOHC V6 with variable valve timing. It delivers 263 hp and 249 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 RPM, with 18/24 mpg ratings and a 3,500-pound towing capacity. The sole transmission is an Aisin 6-speed shiftable automatic. The front-wheel-drive crossover seats seven in three rows. The second row reclines, moves fore and aft 5 inches, and split-folds flat 60/40. It also has nearly 40 inches of legroom. The third row split-folds 50/50. Cargo capacity expands from 17.2 to 100 cubic feet. Tiedowns are standard, but a cover and net cost extra, along with an optional roof rack. A power liftgate is also available.
Already standard in the 2007 CX-9 Grand Touring are full power features, including power front seats, remote entry, Bluetooth, and wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls for the CD/MP3 player. A Bose sound system with satellite radio and a 6-CD changer cost extra, as does a DVD player. Leather upholstery, heated front seats and mirrors, tilt and telescopic steering, a tachometer and temperature gauge, front and rear climate control, and front and rear intermittent wipers are also part of the package. Five-star safety equipment includes 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, traction and stability control with rollover sensors, dual front-side airbags and side curtain bags for all rows, and front and rear stabilizer bars. Automatic headlights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a tire monitor are also standard. Options add a sunroof and a navigation system.
This overview covers the Grand Touring trim only.
