As the lowest-priced Mark LT, the 4x2 Standard-Wheelbase trim offers exactly that: rear-wheel drive and a standard 5.5-foot cargo bed. This luxury pickup is based on the Ford F-150 but contains a few more elements of comfort.
With its 5.4-liter, three-valve V8 it is still quite a workhorse, providing 365 lb.-ft. of torque with a towing capacity of 8,900 pounds when properly equipped. And then the luxury comes in: the ride is plush and quiet, thanks to the trademark Quiet Steel construction, thick glass, an extra-stiff body and frame, and other insulating measures that keep down road noise.
A 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and electronic throttle control comes standard and delivers smooth shifting. The double-wishbone suspension and coil-over shocks work with rack-and-pinion steering to give the LT a wonderful ride and handling
The exterior is eye-catching, with the trademark Lincoln "face" and loads of chrome. The interior strives for a luxury label, with leather, wood trim, and nickel accents, but there still seems to be an imbalance of low-cost plastic. The leather seats are a pleasure, and the driver's has 6-way power-adjust and two memory settings. Rear passengers get full-sized doors and a roomy seat.
Safety and security features give the Mark LT's driver confidence that all will be well. There are multi-stage air bags, ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution, plus remote keyless entry, a perimeter alarm, and other anti-theft measures. The truck earned 5 stars in the NHTSA crash-testing and 4 in the rollover test.
Other items in the impressive list of standard features include an Audiophile sound system with seven speakers and an 8-inch subwoofer, Electronic Automatic Temperature Control, and 18-inch spoked wheels. Some of the available options are a moonroof, a Navigation system, Sirius satellite radio, 20-inch chrome wheels, heated mirrors, monochrome package, and a modular overhead storage system.
