2007 Kia Spectra Overview

Slightly larger than the subcompact Rio, and sharing a platform with the Hyundai Elantra, the 2007 Kia Spectra gets a facelift inside and out and a new sporty SX sedan version of the Spectra5 hatchback.
The 2007 Spectra is available as a Spectra5 hatchback, or LX, EX, and new sportier SX sedan. All feature a 2.0-liter, 138-hp DOHC I4 engine with either a standard 5-speed manual or optional new 4-speed automatic. The LX comes with manual only. The compact sedan gained an inch in length, for a little more legroom. The exterior received a new grille, revised front and rear ends, new taillights and headlights, and a decklid on EX and LX models. The SX and Spectra5 also got a new grille, an integrated front spoiler, new 16-inch alloy wheels, and ground effects. On the inside, the dash was redesigned, chrome trim was added to the EX, and an MP3 player was added to the options for the SX.
The LX is the base model, and though it has power features (including heated mirrors), it does not have air conditioning. The upscale EX adds air conditioning and more upscale features. The 2007 Spectra has six airbags, including side and side curtain, but ABS is only optional on the SX and Spectra5. Both the SX and Spectra 5 wagon feature a sports-tuned suspension, with stronger shocks and thicker anti-sway bars, along with sports seats, leather trim, cruise control and fog lights. Solid handling and good head and legroom (for a compact) are some upsides to the 2007 Spectra. Poor fuel economy, no standard ABS, sluggish acceleration with the auto tran, and seat comfort are downsides.
