2007 Kia Sorento Trims and Specs

The base model 2007 Kia Sorento gets a new engine this year, a 3.8-liter, 262-hp V6. It is paired with a 5-speed automatic with sequential shifting. The base model comes standard with rear-wheel drive only, but still comes equipped with many nice features. These include power locks, windows, and mirrors, a manual liftgate, intermittent wipers, rear defrost, front console, and cupholders in both front and back rows.

On the safety side, ABS is now standard, as is stability control, traction, dual front, front knee, and side curtain airbags. The 2007 Sorento base model only has two rows of seating, but the back row folds 60/40. Cargo tie-downs and numerous storage compartments are available. Oddly, air conditioning is not standard. A tow hitch is another option.

Adding a few more standard features onto the base model, the 2007 Kia Sorento LX 2WD is a rear-wheel drive compact SUV that seats up to five passengers in two rows of seats. It has the new 3.8-liter, 262-hp V6 engine and 5-speed auto/manual sequential shift transmission. It sits on 16-inch wheels, but an exclusive Sports Package turns those into 17-inch and adds a rear spoiler, leather steering wheel, running boards, and fog lights.

In addition to what comes with the base model (power features), the LX adds a ear window wiper, roof rails, air conditioning, cruise control, and an overhead console to go along with the floor console. ABS is now standard this year, and that goes along with the dual front airbags, knee airbags, side curtain airbags, and traction and stability control for extra confidence on the road. Leather seats, remote start, and a tow hitch are all optional. The extra power is a big winner with 2007 Sorento LX owners, but they still complain about the gas mileage.

Faux wood trim adds to the elegant interior materials. Exclusive to the 2007 Sorento EX is a luxury package that adds on chrome accents, leather seats, alloy wheels, and a sunroof. A rear spoiler and tow hitch are other stand-alone options.

Though it shares most of the same features with its 2WD version, the 2007 Kia Sorento LX 4WD is a lot more tough and capable in off-road and poor road conditions. The part-time 4WD system can be selected by the driver for either high or low range gearing. It is not recommended for dry roads, however.

The 2007 Kia Sorento EX 4WD is a four-wheel drive off-roading version of the rear-wheel drive EX. It is the top-of-the-line trim for this compact SUV, and features the 3.5-liter, 262-hp V6 engine and 5-speed automatic transmission in all the Sorento models. The ability to pull up to 5,000 pounds combined with the four-wheel drive performance and all the standard features makes the EX both rugged, luxurious, and affordable.

It shares the same features with the rear-wheel drive EX, such as a roof rack, trip computer, power features, front and overhead consoles, 60/40 split-fold rear seat, fog lights, intermittent wipers and rear wiper, leather trim, garage opener, and cruise control. Where it differs is in the option packages. The luxury package on the EX 4WD gives you the opportunity of Torque-on-Demand, which automatically distributes torque to the wheels that need it most. This is an alternative to the standard part-time 4WD. An Appearance Package gives you the same things as the Luxury (alloy wheels, leather seats, chrome accents), but with body-colored molding.
