2007 Kia Rio Trims and Specs

The base sedan for the 2007 Kia Rio is basically an economy subcompact to get you from point A to point B, with few frills or luxuries. It features a 1.6-liter, 110-hp I4 engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. Intermittent wipers, rear defrost, a front console, and six standard airbags are standard, but you won't find air conditioning or a CD player. A rear spoiler is optional, but you can't get any power features, and ABS brakes are not offered.

Gas mileage is superior, with an estimated 32/35 mpg, and this, along with the low price tag, is what attracts many owners to the 2007 Kia Rio sedan. A quiet ride is a nice surprise. The Rio's wheelbase was recently lengthened, adding more trunk room and a bit more legroom to the cabin.

Moving up a notch in equipment, the 2007 Kia Rio LX sedan adds a few more standard features than the minimalist base model. The same 1.6-liter, 110-hp I4 engine, with choice of 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, powers the 2007 Rio LX. In addition to the six airbags, intermittent wipers, and rear defrost you find on the base, the LX offers power steering, air conditioning, and a 60/40 split-fold rear seat.

ABS brakes are an option for the LX, as is a Power Package that adds power locks, windows, and mirrors and keyless entry. A rear spoiler is also an option, as with the base model. Owners are surprised by the amount of room within the Rio subcompact, though the rear legroom does suffer a bit, as with all small cars. Acceleration is labored, but overall highway performance is sufficient. And the price is definitely right.

New in 2007 is the Kia Rio SX sedan, a sporty version of the LX that shares many features with the Rio5 SX hatchback. The basics are all the same. The 2007 Rio SX sedan has a 1.6-liter, 110-hp I4 engine with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Air conditioning, CD player, power steering, tilt steering wheel, 60/40 split-fold rear seats, and a center console are just like the LX.

The SX adds 15-inch wheels (to the LX's 14-inch), fog lights, a rear spoiler (only an option on the LX), metallic interior accents, and a leather steering wheel and leather trim. However, it too does not come with power windows or locks or mirrors, but these can be found in the optional Power package, along with keyless entry. Another option only for the Rio SX sedan is 16-inch alloy wheels.
