CarGurus Overview
When you opt for the Unlimited X, here's what you get beyond all the great features of the original X: twice as many doors and a hundred times as many looks.
That's because a Wrangler Unlimited is like no Jeep ever before. The all-new generation has gone beyond the usual improvements and behind-the-scenes changes to present a truly unique vehicle. In fact, it's the only four-door of any manufacture available with a convertible top.
You also a lot more cargo room than the two-door X affords: about three times as much. Jeep considers the X a five-passenger vehicle, although the chump who gets stuck in the middle of the backseat may beg to differ.
Like all Wranglers, the X features a 3.8-liter V6, 202-horsepower motor (the same used in Chrysler minivans) that comes in a wee bit stronger than the previous 190-horsepower V6. There's also a newly-designed instrument panel, and improved steering (with cross-car linkage), shocks, front and rear suspensions, and two-speed transfer case.
Fuel economy, if you can call it that, is rated at 17 city/19 highway. But people buy Jeeps because they want to drive over trees, not hug them.
The best news is that the X is safer than ever, with its standard ABS, electronic stability control and roll mitigation, and multi-stage driver and passenger air bags. As always, the top and doors are removable (half-doors are also available) and the windshield can be folded down.
The X Unlimited is available in 2WD or 4WD. The S Options Package adds cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, deep-tint sunscreen windows, tow hooks (2 front, 1 rear), fog lamps, temperature and compass gauge, and aluminum wheels. Separate options include engine block heater, Trac-Lok limited slip rear differential, and automatic transmission.
This overview covers the Unlimited X trim only.
