Cons

Tucker Review — Handling is perfect, brakes are up to par, the tires are great in the snow and in bad weather and its great on gas mileage and cost. The only bad thing is the wipers, and some problems with the airbag light on the dashboard.

Pros

Styling faithful to the original, drives ok

Cons

Depressing interior, heavy wheel, wasted potential by not using the European platform

An Under Average Car With Lost Potential. — Many enthusiasts were pleased with the fact Ford was importing the European Ford Focus over to North America. In Europe the Ford Focus is known as a great car for a great price. Well, it turns out the North American car only kept the styling while sticking with the same old rubbish that kicked Ford out of the #2 spot in America. The area I expected the Focus to do well in was to drive well. The Focus that was provided to North America doesn't do this too well. First things first, the platform is not the same as the European one meaning it just doesn't handle as well. The steering wheel is very heavy, normally I like this a lot more but this wheel is heavy and vague. Had it kept the Euro platform this heavy wheel might make sense. The engine is not refined but has ok pick up. The next worst thing about this car is...the interior. Its just depressing with very cheap details. Its not even built very well further leaving the impression the interior was just an after thought. Compared to interiors of other cars aside from the Cavalier, its no wonder many prefer a Civic or a Corolla over this. Reliability is questionable, the North American Focus is one of the most recent cars that has had nearly 20 recalls issued in a matter of 2-3 years. To have this many, one must wonder whether there is even a good one built. The only good thing about this North American Focus is it kept the styling of the European one. The later cars had a more modern look which I like but its still ruined by the terrible interior. The good news, Ford has learned from its mistakes and fixed a lot of the problems I cited here in their next Focus.

Pros

Tons of room, peppy 4-cylinder, Excellent gas mileage

Cons

Small sunroof, Flimsy arm rest, seats are terrible about holding stains...

Ford Focus Is Fantastically Fun — I love my Focus. It has nearly 70,000 miles on it and it is still running like it did when I drove it off the dealer's lot. The performance is acceptable for a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder and the handling is excellent for an econobox. It sometimes feel as though I'm driving something sportier the way it grips corners. It also feels like a much larger car that it looks from the outside. The interior space in my car is comparable to that of most mid-sized family sedans of the mid-90s. My Focus is solid as a rock, the only problem I have is an occasional squeak when I'm going over one of the 5 million speedbumps in my apartment complex, but other than that, nothing. My car hasn't needed any repair work so far mostly because I have taken my car to a Blue Oval certified shop every time I needed anything done including oil changes, tire rotations, etc. As far as cost of ownership, this car has truly spoiled me. Even when gas was $4 a gallon, I was paying less than $30 to fill up. It has excellent gas mileage, so getting gas is a once-a-week thing for me which usually average out to $12-$15 to fill up from a quarter of a tank. The Focus is definitely a fun car to drive, all I can say is go to your local Ford dealer and ask to test drive one. I am certain that you would fall in love with the car like I did with mine...

Focus St — Performance - 2.5l 5cylinder turbo, how can you go wrong? Acceleration is awsome, especially after some engine tweaks. In orange the car just looks awesome. Handeling is awsome, with some liftoff oversteer there is no corner that will not be fun. And to all those other hot hatches, still waiting for one to catch me at a TLGP.

When you put your foot on the accelorator......it responds!!!!

Cons

Dawnie's Focus St3 — What isn't there to NOT like about it....oh except you could easily loose your licence. The sound of the Turbo when it kicks in is aweseome. Its a dream car to drive unlike the Honda Civic Type R and the Vauxhall Astra. (See Jeremy Clarkson and Vicky Butler Hedersons reviews for confirmation)

Respectable Hatchback — the perfomance isnt that great being a 1.6 but the comfort and handleing are superb considering the size of the car, and i can now get a aftermarket exhaust to go with ma air filter wahooo. i shoulda waited for an st tho, still young and impatient what a shame...

Cons

Ford Focus Se — I love it - great handling on highway. FAST FAST FAST! I Disike it as it is not great on gas, and small for a family. But I would buy it again. I would recommend this car to everyone that would like a small car that is quick and sporty looking.
