CarGurus Overview

For eco-conscious drivers who aren't expecting to do a lot of off-roading, the 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid Base model with front-wheel drive should serve their needs nicely, although some drivers note that the Hybrid can be pricey, when compared to the standard non-hybrid Escape. Ford notes that the Escape Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient SUV on the planet, but drivers shouldn't expect to get the 40 to 60 miles per gallon common with hybrid sedans. Rather, the Escape Hybrid averages about 30 miles per gallon, according to Ford.

Still, the Escape Hybrid includes a lot of high-tech hybrid-related machinery, including an innovative powerplant that consists of a 2.3-liter four-cylinder Atkinson Cycle engine and a compact electric motor, which powers the vehicle up to 25 miles per hour.

Other hybrid-related technologies include an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT), which results in seamless acceleration, and regenerative braking, which generates electricity when you apply the brakes to recharge the battery.

Other standard features for the Escape Hybrid Base model include eco-friendly cloth fabric seats, air conditioning, cruise control, a large and comfortable back seat, a roof rack, and Unique Hybrid 16-inch aluminum wheels.

This overview covers the Base trim only.
