Riding on a double-wishbone front and solid live axle rear suspension, the 2009 Durango Adventurer gets its kick from a 4.7-liter V8 and 5-speed automatic that deliver 235 hp and 300 ft-lbs of torque at 3,600 RPM. The unfortunate side effect of this exceptional power is a fuel economy rating of 14/19 mpg. A 335-hp, 5.7-liter Hemi V8 is available.
4-wheel disc brakes are supplemented by 4-wheel ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution. Other safety features that help the Durango earn five stars in frontal impact tests include traction and stability control (new this year) and dual front-side airbags for front-seat passengers. With nearly 9 inches of ground clearance, the SUV sits on new 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires. A tire monitor and foglights are also standard. Paying a little more gets you automatic headlights and skid plates.
Both second and third rows fold flat for up to 102 cubic feet of storage. A roof rack is standard, and a power liftgate can be added. Standard tiedowns and a net secure your cargo. Interior comforts include power windows, locks, and heated mirrors, remote entry, power front seats, cruise control, a front power outlet, tilt and telescopic steering, and front and rear intermittent wipers. A 6-CD changer also comes with the 2009 Durango Adventurer. Leather seats and trim, heated front and second-row seats, a DVD player, and a sunroof add a more upscale feel. For extra convenience, look to the optional remote start, trip computer, power-adjustable pedals, and wheel-mounted audio controls.

On-demand 4WD distributes torque where needed in the 2007 Dodge Durango Adventurer 4X4. Accompanied by a center differential, the system gets some help from 8.7 inches of ground clearance (skid plates can be added) and new 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. Under the hood lies a 235-hp, 4.7-liter V8 that delivers 300 ft-lbs of torque at 3,600 RPM. A 5-speed automatic is the only transmission. A little more money gets you more power in the form of a 335-hp, 5.7-liter Hemi V8. The 2009 Durango Adventurer 4X4 seats up to eight in three rows of seats, with both second and third rows split-folding flat. Captain's chairs can replace the second-row bench, reducing passenger capacity to seven. Total cargo space with all seats down is 102 cubic feet. Tiedowns, a cargo net, and a roof rack are standard. A power liftgate costs extra.
A full power setup includes power front seats, heated mirrors, cruise control, and remote entry. Options add remote start, a trip computer, power-adjustable pedals, memory settings, and a sunroof. The 6-CD changer features MP3 playback. Other conveniences include a 12V power outlet in the front, tilt and telescopic steering, and front and rear intermittent wipers. For a more luxurious ride, you can add heated front seats, leather upholstery and trim, wheel-mounted audio controls, and a DVD player.
Adding more security to the 2007 Durango Adventurer 4X4 are its now-standard traction and stability control, front and rear stabilizer bars, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, and dual front-side airbags for front-seat passengers. Other equipment includes a tire monitor and foglights.
