Powered by a 6.1-liter Hemi V8 engine that produces 425 horsepower, the 2007 Chrysler 300 SRT-8 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. In fact, this high-performance version of the Chrysler 300 full-size luxury sedan is the fastest Chrysler vehicle aside from the Dodge Viper. The Hemi is linked to a five-speed AutoStick automatic transmission that provides clutchless manual shifting.
New features for the 2007 SRT-8 include an adaptive cruise control system, which adjusts the car's speed depending on the proximity of the car ahead, and SmartBeam headlights, which quickly adjust the brightness and intensity of high beams depending on surrounding light sources. Also new are redesigned 20-inch wheels and optional heated rear seats.
Heated, leather-trimmed front seats are standard in the STR-8, as are a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, an electroluminiscent instrument cluster, rain-sensitive windshield wipers, heated exterior rear-view mirrors, a tire-pressure monitoring system, remote keyless entry, and an AM/FM stereo system with a six-disc CD changer and an MP3 input jack.
Other features include Brake Assist, which provides maximum braking in emergency situations, and all-speed traction control, as well as four-wheel antilock brakes and a trunk-lid spoiler.
Drivers note that despite the fact that the 300C SRT-8 is powered by a Hemi V8, it gets relatively good gas mileage. It also provides a smooth, comfortable ride, with good handling and power. However, parking can be difficult, some drivers note, and others would like a sportier overall design. But generally drivers feel the 300C SRT-8 represents a good value in today's automotive market.
