Pros

The 6.0L V8 with Automatic Transmission shifts smoothly and accelerates well for the size of the vehicle.
Interior finish is upgraded on the LT1 with carpet and upholstered seats.  The front seat has an arm rest/console that can be folded up making room for a  third person.   Power windows and door locks add convenience compared to the basic work-truck   Radio/ CD Player Sound System is average.   The truck has great ground clearance.  The 4-wheel drive can be selected while the vehicle is moving, and  always works without any noise or clunking when engaged..  Can tow a boat if needed.  Will tow a 2-1/2 ton or 4-yard trailer.  Because it runs on 87 Octane fuel, it cost  considerably less brand new  than the Diesel and Allison Trans. combination that adds about $14,000 to the price.
There are four-doors that allow good access to put items in the cab or take them out.
Up to six people can ride in the truck with full three-point belts for four of the seats.
Has off-road capability with 4 x 4. Normal traction is with a limited slip differential.
The 8' bed leaves 6' of space with 8' foot long items sliding underneath a bed-mounted tool-box if you want to close the tailgate.
the bench seat

Cons

Wheelbase is long at 157.5 in and most parking lots are designed for shorter, maller vehicles.  However, places like Home Depot have modified their parking areas to accommodate contractors and to make parking easier.   The steering turning radius is wide and one has to be sure a U-turn is possible at some intersections that are narrow.
The two middle seats have lap belts only.
Chevrolet made a steering intermediate-shaft for certain model years that can make
a clunking sound due to the grease on the upper shaft moving a bit in the housing over time.  The steering shaft needs to collapse in the event of a frontal collision, so the engineers seem to try to accommodate that with design changes with different models every so often. While the steering column makes some noise occasionally, it doesn't affect safety.
You might want the Duramax Turbo-Diesel with the Allison AT power-train if you need to do some serious hauling  up grades, or in the mountains as the 353 HP gas engine's power-curve is more suited to lower elevations and flat-hauling situations.

Classic Silverado, Extended Cab — Bought this vehicle because it has a great reputation as a working truck, and used it in a landscaping business. The truck has served well, proving to be reliable. The gas engine 6.0L V8 with Auto Trans has been trouble-free for the over 90,000 miles that I've driven the truck, and the original brakes lasted that long with average use. 4 x 4 can be push-button engaged while the vehicle is moving. Tried the heavy-tread off-road type tires and prefer instead the ride of all-season radials that are quieter with this truck. It has a comfortable ride due to the independent front suspension. Fair gas mileage can be expected for the size & weight of the truck. Because this truck has a heavy rack it obtains less than the rated-mileage. The 8' Long bed is great for carrying items that you would have to otherwise tie down on the heavy-duty overhead rack. 10' Lengths of material can hang over the tailgate when in the closed position.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros

Great all around truck that has been a pleasure to own. I will always take the Chevy over its competitors.

Cons

Gas mileage. Slightly larger brakes would be nice.

Best Truck In Its Class Hands Down!!! — Of all the cars and trucks I have owned this has been one of my favorite vehicles. I can put the family in it with toys in the back or load it up with everything you can imagine, in any weather and travel in comfort. Since I have owned this truck I have only been stuck once. In the trucks defense, the tires were at the end of their life span with very little tread left. It took over 4 feet of snow to slow down this truck with original tires and over 60k miles on them to boot. I may not have gotten stuck with newer tires.

Best Truck Ever — Everything kicks major ass I have owned and driven many trucks in my life; including, Ford’s, Chevy’s, and Dodge’s. And nothing compared to my Chevrolet pickups when it came to durability, style, comfort, or function. This is my 3rd Chevy pickup, and I also owned a GMC Sierra as well. I loved every one of them, but when I got this one I was able to say this is my forever truck. It met every expectation I had. It is a crew cab so it has plenty of room for the family. I love the power… for something so heavy it will sure put you back in your seat! When you are stopped on an incline and let off the brake and the truck moves forward… now that is torque! I am not sure there is any thing it won’t pull. We have used it to haul other cars, and motorcycles. Never once had a problem! I have driven the truck on the beach and it acted as though it was in its comfort zone. The truck was made to work, and work it will! The interior is comfortable and functional. Oh, and I cannot forget the heated leather seats, the On-Star, and the instant economy function. Really I am not sure I could list everything I love about this truck. Did I mention… it is really a great looking truck too?! My one and only complaint would be the small tires that it comes with from the manufacturer, but those can be replaced!

Awesome Truck For The Money — The acceleration is the best it runs great, just rebuilt the whole engine and the body. Braking is awesome, the handling is really easy for off road. It has needed some repairs but i fixed it. Never has squeaked unless i turn to sharp. The exterior is red and the interior is blue. Gas mileage is 15 miles to a gallon, which is wat i really need. YES off road. Yea i would as loong as they dont wreck it.

Great Family And Tow Rig — I love everything about this truck! It does everything I could ask from it and more. The Diesel engine has so much power that you can tow anything over any hill without ever slowing down. It does great on gas mileage, how many HD trucks can get up to 24mpg??? This one!

Held At The Bank. — Overall a very nice looking truck, low miles. Runs and drives great. No noticeable problems. Engine sounds good, transmission shifts as it should. A/C is cold. All option work as they were designed. This truck rides very nice with plenty of room in the cab.

One Nice Rig — I just bought it last week after researching nonstop for a week. Searched the US and found the perfect truck outstate. They hold value quite well and are rare to find in this year. Flew out, bought it and road tripped home. A great adventure.

Love This Truck, Just Don't Need It Anymore! — Felt very safe in this vehicle, it's a tough truck, hugs the road, easy to manipulate in traffic It is comfortable to drive even distances of several hours. In addition, it runs really well, has lots of get up and go!

Best Sp — Best pickup in it's class! This truck is a great overall mid-size truck. If you want a nice looking, good performing, solid truck for work or for yourself, and you don't want to spend over 20K on a new car, then this truck's for you. I have one in silver which I got for 18K. ..
