2007 Chevrolet HHR 2LT Review
Pros2.4L engine = plenty of pep and great fuel economy, monsoon system sounds great, auxiliary port for MP3 player, seats five comfortably, plenty of cargo room, fairly sporty ride Conspower steering feels a little numb at times (but not too frequently), not used to window switches being placed on the center stack, automatic still has only 4 gears in a 5 gear world

A Fun And Funky Compact. — With high gas prices remaining a sure thing for a while, I wanted to see if the HHR was a possible answer to my call for help. My call for a more fuel efficient car from an American company with plenty of room for friends and cargo. Even though the test drive was short, it was long enough to get a good feel for the car. Honestly, the car surprised me. Acceleration, while not like a V6, was really good with plenty of giddy-up. Turning was okay with not too much lean and I think it could handle being a little sporty. Blind spots might take some getting used to with the design of the windows as you work your way back, but the large side mirrors help you out quite a bit. Not a squeak or a rattle came out of the car which impressed me. The only other negative things I noted were the automatic having only 4 speeds instead of 5 (also can't have a automanual or manumatic...yet), getting used to the window controls being placed on the center stack and the occasional numbness from the steering. Other than that, I can recommend this to everyone else if they want an economical compact with plenty of room for friends and stuff with features that won't break the bank. Chevy has a hit on its hands with the HHR and I'm definitely considering this for myself in the future.

ProsThis small SUV is one interesting, well handling vehicle which gets around 23 + miles per gal of regular gas. Excellent all around viewing ability when driving. ConsThe only thing I find wrong is the front drivers arm rest is somewhat too small (on the right hand side), and the location of the battery (in rear of vehicle by the spare tire.)

Better Looking And Riding/driving Than The Chrysler Pt Cruiser And Longer. — Very little if anything at all. The heated leather seats are great, especially in the cold weather. Handles very well on open highway speeds. Haven't had any problems with cross winds moving the vehicle. Seems as though more an more people purchasing this vehicle now.

Retro — Just purchased last week. Nice looking ride and quite economical. Plenty of space for stuff in the back. My wife plays stand up acoustic bass and even this animal fits with the rear seats folded down. Decent stereo and comfortable seating for four adults. Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsIncredibel highway mileage, fair in town if I keep the foot off the 'go' pedal ConsCheap interior materials, need to invest in fabric protection

My '07 Hhr — 6.8 litres per hundred - next question? Carries almost as much as SUV's we've owned, reasonably peppy, perfect for the two of us. Can't stop playing with the little in-dash information centre and am fixated on the 'average economy' feature. Best tank of gas - 6.3 litres per hundred with cruise set at 95. Best range - 870 k on a single fill. 24,500 trouble free k's except for a front sway bar end, under warranty and repaired instantly.

Prosspace, practicality Consbuild quality, materials

Cheap And Inexpensive! — Heavy, no real 'feel', buzzy motor, not refined. Cheap feeling. Clunky front end components. interior is ok at best. Very plasticky. Cheap. Lots of room though. Cheap on gas, insurance is average. Overall, I am impressed with it, but Chev needs to spend more on materials and quality to even get close to the competition. Toyota, volkswagen, honda etc..

Prosspacious, fun, different-looking Consexpensive tires to replace

Like A Truck, But It's A Car With Good Mileage — This is a really fun, different looking car. The HHR is classified in the truck section, however, has the base and gas economy of a car. I love how much space it has and the fact that the seats (even the front one) fold flat. It can hold 8ft boards or a couple of bikes INSIDE and the panelling/bottom is plastic, so it wipes clean after a muddy transport. The trunk also has an extra compartment underneath to hide away things like jumper cables and car emergency supplies. The drivers seat adjusts 8 ways and the vents can be angled in any direction. Even in the back, there is plenty of leg space for 2 full grown adults. I would recommend this car to anyone and am considering getting the 2011 when this lease is up. Prosgood gas mileage, flexible storage spaces, smooth and controlled ride Conswindow controls oddly placed, cupholders pretty unusable

What's Not To Like? — Performance-Not a sports car, but peppy and agile. Driving 55% highway, 45% city, I am averaging 28.1 mpg-very happy with that! Appearance-Modern interior which looks refined well above the cars price point. Exterior styling still turns heads. Build Quality- Good blend of materials on the interior. Exterior build quality seems average for Chevrolet. Get good J.D. Power ratings for Power train quality. Primary Use: Commuting to work

The Looks Grow On You But I Will Do Everything I Can To Make It Better — Nice 2 Tone Paint Job, Good Sound System, Int. all leather, Sounds Sick for a 4-Banger pushin almost 200hp but i'll get over that hump soon, steering soft needs a lowering kit, brakes need to be bled probley suck anyways. Build quality... Its made by GM. MPG almost 30 if yo drive it easy, new car so not much maintenance cept oil. Car would be fun to drive if it was the SS! Primary Use: Commuting to work

Proslook, features, and acceleration Conssnow driving

I Really Like It. — The only downside I have for this car is in snow. It does not seem to like driving when there is more than an inch of snow on the ground. It over turns in the snow. I may need better tires. I love the retro look to the interior dash and the MP3 hookup to the music system. I also like the information features on the dash. I especially love the available mileage and constant temperature reading. Primary Use: Family transportation

Very Practical Family Car — The HHR has a nice smooth ride and accelerates well. The only repairs it has needed is the windshield. Gas mileage is very good and it is easy to maintain. Minor repairs and maintenance can easily be done at home Primary Use: Commuting to work |
