The Colorado 4WDs get a two-speed InstaTrac transfer case with push-button controls. The truck's fuel efficiency dips from 18/24 mpg to 17/22 with 4WD. The 4WD Colorado models are also available with the Z71 off-road package, which adds a torsion-bar front suspension with heavier-duty shocks, a locking rear differential, oversize tires, and skid plates.
The regular cab Work Truck is the most affordable of all the Colorado trims. The Work Truck is a bare-bones version of Chevy's new light-duty truck. Standard features and options are minimal here, but air conditioning and AM/FM radio are both included.
The Work Trucks are available with either the standard 2.9-liter inline four or an optional 3.7-liter inline five. The four-cylinder pumps out 185 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque, while the five cylinder powerplant makes 242 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque. Towing capacity is 4,000 pounds with the standard engine, or 5,500 with the bigger engine. The regular cab layout includes a 72-inch bed, offering a maximum payload of 1,523 pounds.
This overview covers the Work Truck 4WD trim only.
