CarGurus Overview

The 2007 Aston Martin DB9 Volante is a convertible version of the DB9 grand tourer.  Its push-button power-folding top is made of lightweight cloth, and folds neatly into a non-intrusive tonneau cover in seventeen seconds.  The Volante costs about $10,000 more than the coupe.
The Volante is powered by the same 6.0 liter all aluminum V12, which can be teamed with either a six speed automatic or six speed manual transmission.  This engine makes 450 horsepower and 420 pound feet of torque available, which is enough power to rocket from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.  The quarter mile is reached in just over 13 seconds, at speeds in excess of 100 mph.  The 12/19 mpg gas mileage doesn't seem so bad for such a powerful V12, thanks in part to the super-lightweight construction.
The Volante convertible variant's topless body results in a bit less rigidity.  A softer suspension has beed added to the Volante, which takes something away from the overall grand touring feel.  Of course, such a distinction would not be so apparent to most drivers.  From the ground up, Aston Martin conceived the new DB as both a coupe and a convertible, and many considerations were made to ensure similar performance.  While the Volante may not have exactly the same solid feel as coupe, both its rigidity and handling are quite exceptional for a convertible.

This overview covers the Volante trim only.
