ProsLove to drive her! Huge trunk for a sports car. ConsMy kids are huge and I cant manage to stuff them into this car anymore!

Sporty — Amazing fuel mileage, sports car feel, luxury package, sunroof, leather, bose stereo sound, all in all an awesome car for someone without kids! Very attractive appearance, Ive never done anything to this car except have it serviced! Virtually shop free, trustworthy vehicle. Super fun to drive, tight sporty steering. Primary Use: Family transportation

Volvo S40ness — This car zips around traffic with ease. Build quality is the greatest from super stiff body shaft. Performance is incredible. Gets you from point A to point B in less time than predicted. Great gas mileage. Fun to drive? YES!

ProsReally price worthy, very fast, terrific handling, comfortable seats, great design. ConsWhen fully using the turbo, a lot of power is pushed on the front wheel drive, which makes the front slightly unstable in hard accerleration. Not much space in the back seat.

Fast And Furious — This car is amazing. It's amazingly spacious for being a smaller car. I'm 6'7" and I sit as well in this S40 as I do in some mid to large size vehicles. The turbo in this car makes it one of the fastest cars in its class. Volvo always have the most comfortable seats, a big plus for anyone who likes to drive so you don't have to stop every so often to rest your bum. The whole point is to drive for as long as the tank takes you.

2006 Volvo S40 2.4i Review
ProsExtremely well-built and durable car. Handles like a nimble sports sedan should! High quality interior materials and very well thought out interior! Volvo made safety a TOP priority with everything that went into the S40. Comfy & supportive front seats, back seats a bit cramped though. Cool "IKEA designed (not really)" front center column, nice space in back of it to stash items. Reliable and decent on gas...only had to replace battery, tires, and cabin air filter...no real issues at all...rare thing to say about a European car. ConsStrange pedal design and layout: Accelerator & Brake Pedals are very small AND too close together, shoes with thick or wide heels were an issue (less of a problem with standard width footwear like sneakers or dress shoes). Cabin Air Filter is VERY hard to get at and pricey to replace (pedals have to be removed...ugh!). Volvo's idea of a fog light is having ONE rear bulb light up brighter when button depressed (not practical or useful AT ALL!). 2.4i model needs brighter halogens or better yet, Bi-Xenon headlights AND FRONT fog lights, A little bump in HP from the 2.4L 5 cyl engine would've been nice. Boxy looking rear design, not 100% aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

ProsI like the design, the comfort, and not seeing one in every spot in the garage at work. ConsI hate that I can't use my iPod with the sound system.

I'd Buy Another. — This has been one of my favorite cars, and it's remained interesting to me for a longer period of time than I had expected. The design seems fresh after all these years, and mine has held up very well - quality materials look as good as they did when I purchased it. It's much more fun to drive than comparable japanese or US sedans, yet isn't as common as a BMW 3 series. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsSide impact protection & Air bags ConsBoot aperture

Very Reliable & Easy To Drive — It's easy to handle, very well built, not enough leg room in the back when I drive, hand brake leaver could have been under the dashboard. boot aperture coulh have been a bit bigger, a sixth gear would be good. Overall:NOT BAD Primary Use: Commuting to work

Nicest Car I've Owned — Nice car, love it being a manual. Wish it were a little faster, but gets really good gas mileage. I have had it a year and very little complaints. I think its looks sexy and I'm hoping to get some rims for it and dress it up a little bit.

ProsPros: It’s a good looking car (different from others) I won’t give any stars for that..It may deserve couple stars here and there but with my experience all those dont matter!! ConsCons: Parts are expensive and sometimes have to special order, hard to be work on (and it does need a lot of mechanic visits, so be prepared to pay for hourly rate for the dumbest thing), If changing spark plugs (inaccessible until you take almost the whole car apart) requires an specialist and it takes 2 HOURS to do than you should know that it’s ridiculous…. Wait, my key just got stuck on the ignition ‘cause the computer needs an update??? And the new module (update) it’s going to cost me $300.00??? ; What?! My cylinder head cracked AGAIN and it’s another $1,500 AGAIN? .... My “Immobilizer” when off and I can’t turn on my car so I have to tow it and pay $50 to fix it… That’s not all but to summarize don’t even consider to buy that piece of s%^&t

Dont Buy!! Cant Believe There Is Good Reviews About This Car.... — 2006 Volvo S40 2.4i First of all I have never been incline to write a vehicle review before (I just read them), but I feel so aggravated with this car that it’s impossible for me to ignore. I can summarize by saying AVOID THIS CAR AT ALL COST even if it’s a birthday gift, Worst Car Ever! Primary Use: Commuting to work |
