Would Recomend, But Then There Would Be More On The Road. — Four door, quick spooling turbo. Premium sound system, four wheel disc breaks, Fun to drive, faster than a si civic. Beats most entry level bmw's in take off and acceleration. The satellite radio is cool, but the seats have an audi seat warmers that make it more comfortable during the winter. Did i mention push start and keyless entry?

The Good And The Bad About A Passat — i bought an 06 passat in december 07 with just over 20,000 miles for 19K. The cars exterior is excelent looking and the interior is sophicated and good looking as well, i personally like the blue gauges. it is comfortable to drive, quiet and but the driver seat is lacking in lateral support especially in rather spirited driving. The performance is pretty good for a 4 banger thanks to help from a small turbo. The suspension is tight and does not budge oven through high speed corners. There is nothing lacking in the breaks aswell. From a dig the acceleration is lacking halfway through first because of the time it takes the turbo to spool but it will snap through 2nd and 3rd in no time at all the feeling of acceleration last from 2nd through all the way through 4th but after that it hits the speed limiter at 130. The build quality is a little suspet but afterall it is a volkswaggen. The car did need repairs but nothing major. todate just a window circut board, a new cd player (it was a factory recall), and a broken weld connecting down pipes to teh cat backs. the only thing i can complain about is the transmission will go into a limp mode if it is pushed too hard. The gas is cheap because it is a 4 cylender engine but volkswaggen needs to loose the premium only tag. overall it is a fun car to drive and you look good driving it. you cant put a price on appearance.

Pros

Repairs have been minimal.  Major repairs were under warranty.

Cons

Rubberized coating on handles and power option buttons bubbles and comes off.  Replaced some under warranty.  Check engine light comes on too often, but for no real reason.

Good Family Car — Great car, overall. Performance, fuel economy., reliability, good looks all the things you want in a moderately priced car. It's holding up well. I just hit 100K. The turbo really gives the car the legs it needs when it's called for. I love the manual mode shifting. Some of the features like the automatic brake hold is great when you're on a "snail trail" in Branson with the family.

It's awesome

Cons

The labels peeled on the interior

Why Buy Anything Other Than A Volk. — I have been driving my 2006 VW Passat for just about 6 months now, and the only way I can describe it is as the best car I have ever driven. Now, obviously this is slightly biased since I haven't driven every car in the world. That being said, I like the look of the car, the perfomance, and the overall idea of driving a Volkswagen. The car has great get up and go, I think the turbo may have something to do with that, while at the same time it doesn't guzzle gas. I think I may have gotten one of the fabled "Blue Moon" models, since I am able to get approximately 40-50 MPG on the highway, and on a good day about 30-40 on the streets. The interior is awesome, leather everywhere, heated seats, XM Radio, but I did have the problem of the labels peeling off, kind of a drag, however, the dealer fixed that. Great car, I don't think I will ever buy another car unless its a Volk/ Audi.

Pros

Dependability, many extras

Cons

Not power seating on passenger side, other German quirkiness

Nice Dependable Car — I like all the cubby holes and the umbrella holder...and it is rather powerful for such a wimpy engine. The mileage is great-I get around 30 mph in town, and 35-36 on the interstate. It is not as fun to drive as a V-6 or V-8, but the gas mileage makes up for that negative.

Pros

Torque and the chrome trim

Cons

Steel rims and slow engine

45

Good Ride — The discount edition of luxury saloons. The Diesel engine makes it a bit slow at the top but with a good torque. The look of the car is average since it has steel rims, but the chrome trim makes it look quite luxurious. Handling is what you can expect from a such heavy car.

Looks more expensive than it is, real road presence

Cons

The speakers are a bit crap but adequate

Passat 1.9tdi — Fantastic car. It only has 105bhp but delivers it surprisingly well. Off the line it keeps up the best of them and even though it is a diesel it sounds pretty sweet. The build quality is of the usual Germanic standard and will still be as tight and surefooted in years to come as it is now. Has some pretty cool tricks and toys on it even though it is the entry level model, like: The boot and electric windows can be operated from the remote fob which looks pretty trick when you are standing away from the car. The handbrake is electric! It is just a button on the dashboard so the space in between the seats is purely for the gearstick and storage compartments. Even better, it automatically releases itself when you move away so no need to rev the nuts off it when doing hill starts.

Not A Family Car — We had the car for a month! Yes, one month! I have three kids and this is NOT a kid friendly vehicle. The headliner started falling down, I had to have the water pump replaced in the first week, the buttons on the radio and door controls are all peeling. My son whose two and a half sometimes kicks the back of the seat and managed in a months time to start peeling the plastic on the back of the seat. The step panels just inside the rear doors have started to rip apart. I decided to sell the car while there was still equity in it and purchased a Durango which my kids can freely beat up. If you're single and not a teen or college kid, married without kids and or elderly, this could be a good car for you. It has 75k miles on it when I bought it and 76k when I sold it. Purchased for 10k, trade in 7.5k.

If you need space, but still want something a bit pokey

Cons

Have a couple of common issues

If You Need An Estate, Its This Or An A4 For Me. Couldnt Justify Paying More For The Audi Though. — Not a bad motor, got it for the dog really as its huge. Pretty nippy for a big ole barge, a bit wallowy in corners because of the comfy suspension, not bad on juice considering the weight of the thing, I average 39mpg in stop start traffic.
