CarGurus Overview
The Highlander is carried over from the 2005 model year. This specific model is one of four base trim variations, combining a more potent engine with the front wheel drive 4x2 drive train.
Standard features on this model include full power accessories, keyless entry, 16-inch wheels, a six speaker CD audio system, and air conditioning. Regardless of the trim level, the Highlander may also be equipped with options like an in-dash CD changer, rear seat DVD entertainment system, leather seating, third row seats, and a tow package.
Built from the Camry platform, the Highlander includes a sedan-like suspension system which is focused on ride smoothness. However, many drivers have been impressed with how nimble the Highlander is for an SUV.
This model is powered by a 3.3 liter DOHC V-6, teamed with a four-speed automatic transmission. Toyota's VVT-i system is employed to boost power, while lowing emissions and improving fuel economy. The V-6 delivers 215 horsepower and 222 pound-feet of torque, while maintaining a fairly efficient 19/25 mpg fuel economy estimate.
This overview covers the Base V6 trim only.
