Reliable — Updated, 02Feb2015. after years 3½ of ownership this car is everything I expected and more. Uses no oil, no problems at all. 73,656 miles now and have spent nothing for repair. Only regular maintenance costs. No regrets. Test drove a new Corolla, didn't like it so much. The CVT is sluggish up to about 30mph but the 2006 was actually quicker and half the cost of a new one. No, it's not for the younger people. At 61 years old it suits me fine. Not a chick-magnet (like I care) but not a cop-magnet either. (I do care) Have already taken a one-stop 250 mile drive and the comfort exceeded expectations. 40 mpg cruising at 65 and 37 mpg at 80 mph. Decent Audio system. Still starts first time every time with a very short cranking time even at 15°. Still no wind whistles either, quiet as a higher-end car

Pros

Easy to maintain, great MPG's, fairly roomy and cargo space for a small sedan, decent in inclement weather with the right tires

Cons

Not very comfortable on long drives, some of the interior components are pretty cheap, not a quiet car

Great Value Car — Bought this car new in '06 and have had zero problems. Just a few minor fixes to some interior components. Keep up with regular maintenance and this car should reach 250-300k no problem. I bought the CE with no options, but this car has done what I paid for and expected it to do, run hassle free and get good gas mileage! It's been a commuter car for over 7 years, doing about 70+ miles a day, usually get between 38-40mpg hwy. Decent cargo space too!

Pros

Gas Mileage, Handling, interior build quality

Cons

It's a Corolla, small, fast for a economy car, but still slow, junk transmission

06 Corolla S — For what it is built for it does it very well. I can't imagine another gas powered car out there as fun to drive that still gets 40+ mpg. At the end of the day though, it's still a Corolla and I can't say I love this car. The transmission is always one wrong shift away from exploding.

Pros

safety features, gas mileage, great appearance, and comfortable, engine runs quietly, beautiful purr if you accelerate fast enough, brakes are great, trunk has a lot of room, and nice amount of storage compartments around the dash and middle console, great family car. Repair costs are low as are prices at the pump because of it's great fuel economy. Car is very fun to drive and feels safe.

Cons

brakes do not like handling MN winter.

Great Car, Worth The Investment — Bought this car used in 2006 with 12,000 miles roughly on it and we are now just hitting over the 65,000 mile mark, having only recently taken it in for some brake repairs. I bought it to get me through college and it sure did! It got me through college, a couple road trips, and is now the family vehicle. It is safe, very reliable, fun to drive, gives me great gas mileage, the prices at the pump are always nice the couple times a month I need to fuel up, and looks great. My only issue I've ever had with this car is during winter months in MN. Regardless if my tires are new winter ones or not, I always have to be a little more careful driving on ice. I don't know exactly why, I'm probably just not a good winter driver, but there's my two cents about it. I adore this vehicle though as it has always come through for me and continues to prove itself as a great investment.

Pros

Great Gas. Very Reliable. no problems with anything in the car. Keep it maintained and it will treat you well.

Cons

Very low Horsepower. Manuel shift. not much room in the back for a family.

Very Dependable Car — Handling like a economy car. Can see 360 from driver seat compared to SUV and Coupe. AC never is an issue always cold or hot when needed. Not much power but that is why its Manual shift to get the most of what the engine can give. Easy shifting between gears.

Pros

Cheap city car. Toyota = reliable

Cons

Lack of power and masculinity

Girls Car — This car lacks any serious power and room for gear. It is very thirsty at speeds above 80km/h. But it has low km's and is awesome on fuel around the suburbs. It has a wireless with AM, FM and a CD player. But crappy radio reception.

Pros

Great Reliability, No costs other than routine maintenance in 6 years of ownership.  Easy on gas; 30-40 mpg with average around 33 for mix of highway and in town.

Cons

For long trips it may seem a bit small and when loaded down the ride becomes a bit more bumpy.

Absolutely Fantastic Commuting Car. Handles Well In All Weather And Very Reliable. — Great price new. Overall it is extremely reliable and cost efffective. Only cost has been routine maintenance in over 6 years of ownership. Cabin room is good for a small car as is luggage capacity. After 6 years there is a bit of road noise that seeps into the cabin though.

Pros

Fuel economy. Comfortable. Good sound system. Fuel Economy!

Cons

A few rattles when driving, nothing terrible. No iPod integration (although the new 09 models do have that option).

Great Car — I've had this car for 2 years now and I am more happy with it today than the day that i drove it off the lot. It is a great car. The gas mileage rivals that of some of the new hybrids on the market. It looks great, drives great, the stereo system is great (6 disc in-dash changer,) what more can i say, the car is great. I would recommend it to anyone who is the market for a compact car.

Gas milage, low operating cost, fun to drive, reliable

Cons

Interior noise, underpowered

Love It — Great gas mileage, fun to drive, cheap to operate. For being Toyota's cheapest car it's great!. I have been nothing but impressed with this car. The only things I would improve is putting a little more power and making it a bit quieter. $15,000 and 60k+ later all Ive had to do is oil changes.

Cons

Driver's visor too close to rear view mirror

What A Great Choice! — Easy on the gas mileage. You can carry 3 kids in the back, why would you need an SUV.
