2006 Subaru Impreza WRX TR Review
ProsUnreal torque and performance. Love the grip!! Sub 5 second 0-60 with less than $2000 in mods. ConsMiles/Gallon! Paint is paper thin and there are a fair number of little rattles inside the car. You can tell Subaru didn't focus a great deal on the interior but hey its a rally car. Needs a turbo boost gauge stock.

Fantastic Wrx, Best One Yet! — Fast, fun, agile, mean, way too much torque. Very affordable when compared to competitors. None of those fancy gadgets and toys can be found here... go buy a loaded Acura TL or Mercedes if you need those distractions. This is a great vehicle for those who want to stray away from the automatics. If you are considered a "youthful" driver but need an adrenaline rush type car without high insurance rates... the WRX will work. Gas efficiency needs work. It's bad enough that you have to use 91 octane. Also, do not compare this car based on class because it is pure performance. It really is a rally car. You definitely get your money's worth. Compare it to BMW's 3 series, a Mustang, and even Audi's A4 with Quattro... you'll realize what you have. This car was at the bottom of my list, but after driving it through corners and hitting 110mph in 4th gear, it was an automatic buy. If you want a car that has that "sleeper" look, then this is it. Another buying point: this car is pretty much a sports car but your insurance rate will not spike up... performance sedan with lots of rally safety features :) The TR trim with an added spoiler is all you need. Simple and mean... but nobody knows!

Prosvery fast, great handling, lots of torque, lots of storage capacity, lots of safety features Conswindows whistled at high speeds, clutch continued to get heavier as we broke it in.

'06 Wrx-great Practicality, Great Performance — although this wasn't the fastest car we've owned, it certainly was the most practical for a sports car. We were able to do everything from carrying full size pool tables home, to smoking 350zs down the strip. It was a blast, and the only reason we let it go was due to clutch pedal being too heavy, and it being a little too much power for her liking.

ProsQuick for a N/A car ConsNot the best gas mileage

The 2006 Subaru 2.5i — Performance- This is the smaller brother of the wrx/sti but still a solid car. It has crisp acceleration through the ranges even though the 2.5i's lack of a turbo. Good stopping power but subarus are known for warping rotors an it lives true to its name, handling is overall good but needs upgrades to suspention to be great. So far i've never had an issue with this car, its rides down the road smooth and quite. The interior is really plain an basic, same color patterns an styles in most the 2.5's. Not the best on gas but a repsectable 23+ MPG's, this car is really fun to drive an i would recomend this to anyone who wants a quick car without breaking the bank. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsGood power, handling and safety. Great MPG for an AWD vehicle. ConsRadio; A bit too much road/engine noise at highway speeds; A little shy on interior cubby type storage.

Great Little Ride!! — I bought a 2006 Subaru Impreza wagon a few months ago. Got it as a certified pre-owned with 41,000 on it. This car drives great. Enough power to have fun, but not so much that you'll go broke / lose your license from tickets. Handling is also very good. I have a 5-speed and with a little bit of heal-toe work, third gear cornering is a breeze. Have yet to have it in the snow of a Michigan winter, but if it's anything like my wife's Outback, it will do just fine. My only gripes so far are 1) The radio. Just not a lot of substance there; although my car does have a 6 disc changer, and 2) Size. My previous car was a Hyundai Sonata and while the Impreza is in no way too small, it is just taking me some time to adjust. I really miss having a bunch of small storage nooks up front. Overall, great car. I plan to drive it until it dies.

ProsFun to drive, great poise and power, extremely versatile Consso-so mpg

Porsche Spirit In A Daddy Wagon Body — I love my ugly car. It is essentially my "daddy wagon" + "porsche" mushed into one. I commute to work with it, carry my THREE kids around in it (yes 3 car seats), and use it for trackdays/rallyx/autox. The low end torque along with the AWD and poise makes daily driving fun, the 235 HP turbo charged engine really gives it spunk. The stock suspension is pretty soft, but I swapped in 22mm front and rear sway bars which really helped to reduce body roll and bring handling more neutral. 5-speed transmission is adequate. Pedals are situated well for heel-toe shifting. The wagon 5-door body means I can carry (although squishy compared to a van) my family of 5. The hatchback means I can move large bulky objects. The car is beautifully ugly. Great, Japanese reliability. MPG sucks... I get 22-23mph combined. Incredibly fun to drive.

ProsAWD, Turbo, Leather, Its a nice all-a-round package. ConsThis car is known to have transmission troubles when it is upgraded.

2006 Subaru Impreza Wrx Limited — I love this car! I bought it with only 14k on the odo. It is an great car with good performance and economy. While it is not as fast as an Sti model, it definitely gets better gas mileage. The AWD is amazing, once you drive one you will never go back.

ProsAcceleration, Handling, Looks, Subaru enthusiast community is great too ConsHarsh ride, expensive tires, 93 octane gas can be expensive

One Of The Best Performance Cars Money Can Buy — This is my second subaru (impreza of course), and this is one terific car. For 2006-2007 Subaru really made the apperance on this car stand allot more then pervious years. For 06-07 you get a larger 2.5l turbo engine rated at 230hp and 235tq. Bigger 17 inch rims and tires, better steering ratio and a revised interior. Three models are also avaliable for this car the TR (tuner ready), WRX, and the WRX Limited which I have. The limited model inculdes leather interior, heated seats, heated windshielf wiper de-icer, and auto dimming mirror with homelink. This is also the only impreza model to feature Subaru's (and every enthusiasts choice lol) 4 speed automatic transmission over the standard 5 speed manual, which is standard on this car. Likes: Obviously this car is quick, handling is much improved over pervious models. 17 inch rims and tires look great, with Subaru painted in white on the red breaking calipers. Limited packages adds a great element of luxry. Car is pretty decent on gas though you have to run premium 93 octane. Dislikes: Very harsh and bumpy ride although this is expected on a performance car) (make sure to have a chiropractor on speed dial). Some of the interior is kind of cheap but this isnt a big issue. Overall love this car!!

ProsFun family outdoor car. ConsLacks performance

Perfect Car For Getting To And From — Acceleration is mild due to lack of turbo. Handles just the same as all Impreza family vehicles. Build Quality is amazing, no major repairs, some minor recalls. Exterior Appearance could use some work, but maintains family styling. Gas mileage could be improved on, but with owning this vehicle, one doesn't think about fuel economy. Primary Use: Family transportation

Great Permormance For The Price. — There is nothing that I can say bad about this car. This is the most fun car I have ever owned. The gas mileage is not the greatest, but that is the price you have to pay for the performance. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsSporty look, fun and simple to drive, handles nice, will drive on almost anything nicely except uphill in mud and over ice ConsI do prefer the sporty look of the WRX but the body style is still very nice. There is a recall on the passenger seat wiring which they did fix on my last inspection. Tires are filled with nitrogen which is good and bad, not as fast as most Rally-type cars...You still need to treat it like every other car because you will fishtail if the roads are slick or you're in mudd (uphill)

My Baby Blue — I have to say, I love everything about my car. She starts up great even in cold weather, holds her own against cars that tend to act tougher than me on the road (lol) and I only fill my tank every couple weeks. I love driving it, especially in the snow and my friends love it. I couldn't ask for a better car =D It's my dream car! Beautiful 'blue moon' color. =) (Ps. Perfect chicks car hahah) Primary Use: Commuting to work |
