For the ultimate in sporty performance and looks in the G6 lineup of cars, look to the 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP Convertible. The two-door open top is similar to the GTP Sedan and Coupe, except that it features a removable power hard top with glass rear window. A 3.9-liter, 240-hp V6 drives the convertible along with a 4-speed shiftable automatic. Unlike the sedan and coupe, a 6-speed manual is not offered with the front-wheel drive 2006 G6 GTP Convertible. ABS brakes, traction and stability control, dual front-side airbags, fog lights, and daytime running lights are standard. Side airbags are optional.
In terms of features, the 2006 G6 GTP Convertible is identical to the other GTP trims. 18-inch alloy wheels, power features and power driver's seat, satellite radio, automatic climate control, cruise control with controls on the steering wheel, intermittent wipers, keyless entry, and a 60/40 split-fold rear seat. With the top folded into it, the trunk holds 6 cubic feet of cargo. Add-ons include heated leather seats, power pedals, remote start, leather trim, and a 6-CD audio system with controls on the steering wheel. Drivers say the top is easy to remove, the ride quiet, and front legroom very comfortable. The GTP is also peppy, with great handling. Complaints list a desire for a navigation system and a new location for the convertible switch.
