Pros

The Ride (it glides smoothly)
The Large Interior (Not many cars have a large back seat)
The Features (It has and does everything)
The Design (the car is to date)
The MPG (about the same MPG on the highway as 2010 Altima 2.5)

Cons

Notorious for transmission failure 2004-2006 (cost of repair 3000 to 3500)
Steering wheel shimmy (its the tires)(roadforce balance from Discount tire will fix this problem)

I Would Not Recommend This Car To Anyone — Either way you look at it this car will not leave you stranded. Its a high performance sedan dont buy it and expect to use regular unleaded and to maintain it like a Honda Civic. Use preventative maintenance and take care of your car. We have an 06 SE and an 06SL. Bought the SE new currently has 109,000 on it never had any trouble out of it. The SL was preowned converted to synthetic oil changed the timing chain out early runs great. People reading these reviews this is one of the best cars on the Market. All cars have problems and far much worse than the 6th generation Maxima.

Awesome Ride. — The maxima is awesome, I love mine. Great engine, drives and handles like a sports car. However, Nissan in general is notorious for some problems, such as transmissions and ABS systems. Some parts of the car are very difficult to maintain.

One Of The Greatest Cars Ever Made For The Price — I love my 06' Maxima because its fast, handles great, and its just plain fun to drive. Repair work is always minimal with a nissan another great attribute to being a proud nissan owner. its also great on gas which is very important since gas is skyrocketing on the market.

Great Car For The Cost. — Bought it because it looked great. It is an amazing car. Accelerates fast but braking isn't the best. No repairs have been needed. Gas mileage runs about 30 miles pre gallon. This is a very fun car to drive and I want to get the new 2009 Maxima which is more sporty.

Mediocre Gas Mileage

Love The Maxima — I absolutely LOVE this car! I haven't had one problem out of it yet. The only thing that is lacking is gas mileage. However, I knew that it didn't get the best gas milage when I bought it. I have had no reason to take it to the shop, except to have the oil changed!

Love This Car — Has needed repairs in the past but the appearance is great so is the comfort inside. Handling and breaks are good with a powerful engine that makes for a fun drive. It goes through fuel fast and you can find yourself speeding without realizing it. Overall great car, would definitely recommend it.

Nice Driver With Potential, If You Got The Money. — engine has get up and go. the tranny has room to go in all gears with the slap shift six gears. just doesn't feel like a ricer even though its got all the guts to make one. more agressive body styling would have been appreciated for the pricing. handling not the greatest for the price. a little bit of vibrations at lower speeds.
