SLK280 2dr Convertible

Avg. Price: $18,052

The Mercedes-Benz SLK280 was introduced in the 2006 model year as a less, expensive and less powerful version of the company's popular SLK350 roadster, which made its debut in 2005.

The SLK280 has a 3.0-liter twin-cam V6 engine that generates 228 hp. The car comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission and rear wheel drive. A seven-speed automatic with manual-shift capability is optional.

The SLK280 has 16-inch, alloy wheels and high-strength steel construction which ensures structural rigidity and a stable ride without the shakes found in many convertibles.

Avg. Price: $19,562

2006 marked the second year of the second generation for the Mercedes-Benz SLK350 Roadster. The sporty roadster is nearly three inches longer than the ground-breaking original, which was the first production roadster with a folding metal hardtop.

In about 22 seconds the roof can be fully retracted. Driving with the roof down cuts down cargo space in the trunk, but drivers and owners still say the SLK350 offers a fair amount of cargo space for a two-seat sports car.

The SLK 350 has a 268 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 with a standard six-speed manual transmission and rear wheel drive. A seven speed transmission is optional.

SLK55 AMG 2 Dr Convertible

Avg. Price: $29,996

As soon as them AMG label is placed on a Mercedes-Benz, the car goes from being luxury status symbol to high-performance and highly-coveted driving machine. The SLK55 AMG is no exception.

Built on the SLK platform, the SLK55 has one notable advantage over its lesser brethren: while "standard" SLK cars have a V6 engine, the AMG engineers figured out how to load the SLK55 with a V8.

The car looks vicious, with a true dual exhaust system that "broadcasts a throaty tone." The car also fits the roadster profile with a retractable hardtop, which eliminates the need to engineer both coupe and convertible trims.
