ProsFun, practical, and fast. ConsStiff clutch if its a early 06 model. The turbos are known to go bad and smoke.

For The Price No Other Car Even Comes Close To Comparing To This Car. — Performance - Car drives and handles great. Plenty of power. AWD helps slippery situations. Also this car stops on the dime. 12.5" rotors front and rear. I have added hawk racing brake pads. The car handles pretty good. I have it dropped on tein springs. The ride isnt too stiff at all and thats the downside of its handling. There is a lot of un-needed body roll when pushing it hard through turns. Nothing a stiffer coilover setup wont take care of. The clutch in this car is very catchy and takes patience everytime you drive it. Also the gear box is rather notchy. Build quality - Average. Lots of queaks and rattles inside and outside the car. I do have all solid and added motor mounts. The balance shaft has been removed from the bottom of the motor. This added a lot of vibs as well. Idle had to be increase to 1100 to counter act this. Appearance - Exterior looks great. I added a few exterior mods to the outside. Interior is great. Fit and fiinish is nice. Seats are pretty comfortable. Also has adjustable steering wheel. Cost of ownership - Not too bad. just normal matienance. I change the oil early with amsoil 5w-40 synthetic. Started it early at 30k miles. Gas mileage is 19-21mpg depending on driving habbits. I have only been to the dealer a few times. Once was for the a/c compressor pulley going bad. Once for a bent rear axle. My last visit was for the clutch tsb which was replaced for free under warranty. Clutch is a lot smoother. Fun factor - The car is a blast to drive. It acts just like a normal car in every day driving. But as soon as you want to push it hard it gets excited. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Best Sport Sedan Under 45k — Alright people the easiest way to describe this car is AMAZING! This car is easily the fastest car in its class and price range. I'll go so far as saying that there are very few performance sedans out there that offer the level of performance with all the extras features this car has. This car is not only extremely fast in a straight line but it is so smoth through the twistys that you find yourself with a smile that just won't go away when you get behind the wheel. There is no part of this car in terms of performance that is anything less than excellent. The quality of construction on this car is excellent with very few items that seem out of place or cheap. I also like the fact that this car was made in japan and not in north america because the cars i have driven from import manufacturers that are built over here just don't have the same fit and finish. I love the fact that when Mazda re-designed the extrerior of this car that they made it very understated, clean and didn't go overboard with the fast car cosmetic treatment that so many other manufacturers do with their proformance models. The cost of ownership of this car has been pretty good to this point, the mileage is getting better all the time and right now i am averaging about 27 MPG for combined driving. the sevicing intervals are excellent and the cost of the sevice is good. The fun factor of this car is undeniable, it's a blast.

ProsHandles extremely well with Mazda's AWD system. Lots of acceleration power with the K04 turbo. The 6 speed shifts so smooth, you can really shift with 2 fingers and the shifter just falls into the next gear. The tight suspension lets you feel grounded and comfortable on any road in any weather condition. The Grand Touring model has the fabulous smart key design and heated leather seats for those colder winter days. 5 star safety rating, never left me stranded, lots of passenger leg room in both front and back seats. Great for short commutes or long distance road trips without getting cramped up. Great sound quality with the BOSE speaker system with factory subwoofer. Larger brakes, this car stops on a dime every single time. The DSC traction control system works great in snow and on ice, the ABS are very top-notch as well. ConsIt was only made for 2 years, about 10,000 in total.

This Is A Very High Quality, All Around Car. — It has power and performance mixed with comfort and style. I'm 24 years old and it suits my lifestyle perfectly. I've got room to take friends with me on road trips and I've got power to hang with STi and Evo's on the expressway. The car is a sleepers dream. It's 274 factory horsepower is definitely noticeable when you want it to be. It's completely tunable and a performance bargain. These cars were so under-advertised that hardly anybody knows they're out there. The direct injection, 2.3L makes this an amazing car already, but adding the AWD and 6 speed manual to the mix really gave this car a great feel. Anybody looking for a powerful car without sacrificing comfort, definitely check into the Mazdaspeed 6. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsMazda handling, smile inducing torque. ConsThe engine reliability.

Buy It, But Expect The Engine To Do Very Strange Things From Time To Time. — This car was built for luxurious performance at a good price point. 265HP out of the box ain't bad for a 2.3L turbo four. Opt for the GT variant like I did, and it is also a very comfortable highway bruiser. Build quality is wonderful, as all interior trim and electronics were tight as new up to the point I sold it. Unfortunately, the engine is its weakness. Awful reliability, and oil burning. Things just went wrong when there was no rhyme or reason for it to. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsFun Conspart availability

Grade-a For Awesome — I like the acceleration, the handling, and the overall look of this car. Lowered with a cat back sounds real nice. ECU wakes this thing up in the upper RPM's The blow off valve is a nice gimmic also. Handles wake up with a good set of coilovers. The Front mount intercooler is a must Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsEngine, brakes, appearance, price, versatility. ConsDrivetrain, options.

Zoom-freakin'-zoom! — A family sedan with almost 300hp stock and a price tag of under 30k - how much better can it possibly get?!!! The looks of a mazda are unique - there are no other cars like that. The feels is different from anything else - it's a blast to drive whether you are in a rural neighborhood, on a freeway, or on a road course. This car is versatile and is plain awesome. Downside - it's partially ford. That is, indeed, a little upsetting, but it's still a mazda inside so the zoom-zoom factor is always there!!!
