CarGurus Overview By Ann Jackman
The on-demand 4WD system in the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT 4WD features both high and low-range gearing, meaning you can actually take this luxury pickup off-road. The 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires help in that area too. Skid plates are optional to add protection to the nine inches of ground clearance. A limited slip rear differential is also available. The 4WD Mark LT does not come with traction control. The pickup seats up to five with front row captain's chairs and a second row bench that split-folds. Legroom reaches 41 inches up front and 39 in the back. An optional power sliding rear window opens onto the pickup bed, available in two lenghts: 5.5 or 6.5 feet. An optional bed extender allows for longer objects. Chrome rails and a bedliner are also optional.
Like the Base version, the 2006 Mark LT 4WD gets its power from a 300-hp, 5.4-liter SOHC V8 and 4-speed automatic with overdrive. Torque maxes at 365 ft-lbs at 3750 RPM. Tow hooks are standard, but adding the available trailer hitch gives the pickup 8900 pounds of towing power. The pickup was not tested for side impact safety, as it does not feature side airbags. It does earn five stars in frontal tests, with standard dual front airbags and passenger sensors. The 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes come with electronic brakeforce distribution. A front stabilizer bar, tire monitor, automatic headlights, foglights, mirrors with turn signals, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are all standard. Parking sensors, running boards, and 20-inch chrome wheels can be added.
The power front seats are heated and feature driver's memory settings. Power windows, locks, and heated mirrors, remote entry, a trip computer, a CD changer with MP3 playback, and wheel-mounted cruise, audio, and climate controls represent the upscale comfort and convenience of this pickup. Leather, wood, and alloy accent the interior and leather covers the seats. Intermittent wipers, front and rear cupholders, a front power outlet, tilt and power steering, a tachometer, a compass, and a temperature display are all part of the package. Adding extra touches are an optional sunroof, DVD player, rear audio controls, and power-adjustable pedals.
This overview covers the 4WD trim only.
