The Lexus GS 300 was overhauled in 2006 to take on the company's ambitious goal of quadrupling sales of GS series vehicles and boost market share from five o 14 percent. That means loads of new features designed to make the GS 300 more appealing the BMW's 5-series or Mercedes-Benz's E-Series.
Available as a standard sedan or with all wheel drive as an option, the GS 300 carries just a few hints of the previous GS 300 shape and styling. Also new for 2006 is a 24-valve double-overhead-cam engine, which bumps peak power from 225 to 245 horsepower. The V6 also gets a "slick" new six-speed automatic.
"This is luxury first and foremost," wrote one owner, meaning "don't think you'll outrun a Mustang or even a Tiburon." Some owners complained of difficulty seeing the navigation system displays in sunlight, and others wanted more room in the backseat.
