2006 Kia Sedona Trims and Specs

The 2006 Kia Sedona LX went through a renovation this year and turned into a 7-passenger minivan with a new flat-folding third row bench seat. Though legroom is tight back there, it offers more seating options for more children. When both third and second row captain's chairs are down, cargo space has been upped to 141 cubic feet. The 2006 Sedona LX is powered by a new 3.8-liter, 240-hp V6 engine and a 5-speed Sportmatic transmission. The LX uses 16-inch wheels and comes with full safety features, which earned it a top safety pick award. These include ABS brakes, traction and stability control, a tire monitor, and dual front, side, and all-row head airbags.

Other standard equipment is full power features, keyless entry, cruise control (on the steering wheel), tri-zone climate control, a CD player, intermittent front and rear wipers, and manual sliding doors. A roof rack and trailer hitch can be added to increase storage options. Also available is a DVD system for the back rows. Gas mileage is a so-so 17/25 mpg, about average for a minivan. Drivers of the 2006 Sedona LX find it roomy and powerful, and like all the safety features. Many wish it had a few more options and better gas mileage.

A lot more features and options are available with the 2006 Kia Sedona EX minivan than in the LX. It shares the same 240-hp, 3.8-liter V6 engine and 5-speed Sport shift automatic, and the same outstanding safety features, including ABS brakes, traction and stability control, a tire monitor, and six airbags covering all three rows of seats. These are all improvements over the 2005 Sedona. The 2006 Sedona EX adds on 17-inch wheels, fog lights, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

In addition to what you get in the LX, the 7-passenger 2006 Sedona EX offers an 8-way power driver's seat, a trip computer, compass, automatic headlights, heated mirrors, CD/MP3 player, wood trim, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter. Sliding doors are still manual, but an EX-only option gives you power doors and a power liftgate. Another EX-only option is the Luxury Package, which adds heated leather seats, adjustable pedals, driver's memory settings, audio controls on the steering wheel, and parking sensors. High points for owners include the roominess, cargo capacity, overall price tag, and all the extra features you get in the EX. Gas mileage is still a concern, as is the small third row. A few owners have had major transmission repair problems.
