The 2006 Jeep Unlimited Rubicon Is A Serious Off-road Vehicle — The 2006 Jeep Unlimited Rubicon is a SUV for the serious off-roader. On the down side there are few amenities, no power door locks, windows, and/or key-less entry. The ride is harsh and sometimes jaw pounding - but on the other hand this is the ultimate off-road vehicle. The Jeep Unlimited Rubicon has front and rear locking axels. Since this vehicle does not have a electronic throttle box, the driver controls the spped. The jeep is narrow in width allowing it to be driven in tights corridors and is at home in on rough terrain in inclement weather.

Pros

I have had several jeeps through out the years and went looking for the 2006 Golden Eagle.I have had it for 3 years now and enjoy the hell out of it.It's not only an head-turner but it's a awesome performer here in ohio.Neither ice snow or rain keeps me from venturing out .I feel safer in here then I do in any other 4wd vehicle. The ride is unbelievable.compared to my older ones that I've had.Road noise is down 80% because of the factory tops being tighter. The sound system with a bit of ugrading to the front speakers is fantastic. The interior is also pretty to the eye ....not that dreary sight we all got accustomed to..All in all I would recommend those out there who want a true Super Looking-Rugged jeep this one is it

Cons

The only con is the factory tires on this one....I put a set of KUMO's Snow-Ice Rated and believe me the hum going down the road is almost nill....A bit rough on the gas MPG So far my avg is 18-25 so I'm happy with this

Awesome Jeep — I love the vehicle because it a jeep in it's own class....Not to many on the road here so It's unique in my area. Have seen White Golden Eagles not a Black one like I have.If one is looking for a rugged good looking -running vehicle this it the one for sure

Jeep, Yep Its A Jeep. — Performance - The 4.0L in-line six is a very torque oriented system. Braking is about average for this size and weight vehicle. I don't understand all the top heavy warnings on these vehicles. I mean I would go through a track course full throttle but i do believe the rollover possibility has been a bit over played. Build Quality- I've been having issues with the weather stripping around the windshield. Plus the passenger side exterior door handle has been coming out of the door itself. I'm a little disappointed at this point. Appearance- How can you not like a Jeep Wrangler? lol My only complaint is the factor wheels. They are just plain and ugly. There is no way around it. They will be changed eventually. Cost of Ownership - Gas mileage is around 18mpg in this area. Which isn't the worst nor is it the best. I'll admit for a 4 wheel drive vehicle tipping the scales above four thousand pounds. I can't complain too much. Just don't get on the interstate with it. Its geared low enough to where a trip on the interstate will break the bank by fuel consumption. Fun Factor - During the summer and warm months the top comes down easily with some practice. With the top down, this is one of the most fun vehicles I have ever driven. Now if you like to play in the snow, you'll be disappointed. The traction with decent grip tires will leave u going where its supposed too and not sideways like you wanted. lol Thats one of those grown up perks, but for the kid inside of us all its kind of a let down.

Golden Experience — The jeep wrangler golden eagle edition that i own is nothing like the one in the picture, to be honest its a lot nicer. First off, the wheels in the picture are not the standard wheels, the standard wheels on this jeep are gold, or tanish, they sound kinda stupid but they match the car very nicely. Also the front bumper is missing the fog lights, and the bumper tips are not the standardly equipped ones, also they mostly come with black side steps. this atuomobile is a blast to drive no matter the weather, the standard six speed manual is a blast for just driving on and off the road. the standardly bigger tires are nice to have out of the gate. the front and door windows would be nice if there were tinted at least a little bit but you can do that on your own. unfourtanly i didnt get both the hard top and soft top it is suppose to come with. the upgraded sound systems is very nice compared to the regular one.

Pros

If the road is on the map, you can take it in this Jeep. Sunrider top is a nice option to taking the whole softtop off.

Cons

Aerodynamics of a brick with fuel economy to match; range is shorter than ideal.

Last Of The Proper Jeeps — 2006 was the last year for the venerable 4.0 straight six torque monster engine, and the only year with a 6-speed stick. We have a '94 Cherokee in storage in Sydney that took us on 150,000 kms of off-road adventures and was fantastic, so when we needed a 'dog car' I ordered this Wrangler with the long wheelbase. Doggie has his own seat and there's still room for a long weekend's worth of luggage for an adventure. As you can see from the picture we don't baby it - the Rubicon pieces make this a proper off-road tool.

Awesome, Until Life Changes... — I loved this Jeep! I bought this jeep in 2009 with 27,000 miles from Carmax and had a blast with her! I only got to take her off-road once at the outer banks but the beach was fun. A Jeep is about life without the extras. I took her camping once and I had to choose between our camping gear and our dog because we couldn't fit both. It seats 2 in comfort but you still need to be light on luggage to make it work. Now that life is changing it's time to get a grown-up family car...

2006 Jeep Wrangler X — I love my Jeep! Very sporty and fun to drive, very practical for where I live, and at 85,000 miles still operates like a brand new car with no mechanical flaws. It looks great, goes wherever I want, and is great for summer cruising with the top down and doors off.

Pros

Just plain fun. Feels indestructible. Good power and great torque. With my 6 speed manual, I generally start off in 2nd gear. Have had no problems at all. This was the last year of the 4.0 inline 6. Sure glad I got that as its supposed to be one of the longest lasting engines around. I have a Lincoln also, but about 95% of the time, I'll take the Jeep! Its relatively comfortable on the highway. Very few modifications needed to make it ready to pull behind my motorhome 4 down.
Its a Jeep thing!

Cons

Poor fuel economy.
Limited cargo room.

Love It! Can't Think Of Anything I'd Rather Drive. — Its a Jeep. Its not for everyone. But, for me, and thousands of others, its among the best vehicles around. All season fun! I look forward to snow! Pulls my utility trailer with three dirt bikes on it with no problem too!

Nice Value — i got this from my grandfather before he passed away.i hated jeeps.the only problems i have are the manual says to grease the front end every oil change and the front rotors warped (before i got it) at 22,000 miles.i went to jeep and they wanted almost 300 a piece so i went to 4 wheel parts and got a set of american (the originals are canadian castings) ones and a new set of pads for 250! cant beat that.been on there for over 30,000 miles and havent had a problem since.the gas mileage is real bad (14.5 on the highway at 55).but other than that it has really changes my views (somewhat) on jeeps
