4dr Sedan

Avg. Price: $16,490

With a 32-valve, 4.5-liter DOHC V8 engine and 5-speed shiftable automatic, the revamped 2006 Infiniti M45 Sedan puts out 335 hp and 340 ft-lbs of torque at 4,000 RPM. The rear-wheel-drive luxury sports sedan fits four comfortably, with a fold-down center armrest. Rear passengers get 37 inches of legroom, compared to the 44 up front. The trunk holds only 15 cubic feet, but comes with a net. Reclining rear seats can be added. The sedan rides on a fully independent double wishbone front and multilink rear suspension, built on Nissan's FM platform.

Luxury overflows in the 2006 M45 Sedan. Leather covers the seats, and leather and wood trim decorate the interior. Power front seats feature driver's memory settings. Full power features include push-button remote start and remote entry, and wheel-mounted controls for the cruise, Bluetooth, and audio systems. A 6-CD changer features MP3 playback, with the option to add satellite radio, rear audio controls, and a DVD player. A sunroof, power tilt and telescopic steering, heated mirrors, a trip computer, a tachometer and temperature display, a front power outlet, six cupholders, a first aid kit, and intermittent front wipers are also standard. The dash features electroluminescent gauges. Options add a rear spoiler, a navigation system, rear climate control, and climate-controlled seats.

The 2006 M45 Sedan earns a "good" rating from the IIHS, with such standard equipment as traction and stability control, a front and rear stabilizer bar, and 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. Dual front-side airbags come with passenger deactivation. Side curtain bags cover both rows. The 18-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires have their own tire monitor. Lighting the way are automatic halogen headlights, foglights, and daytime running lights. An auto-dimming rearview mirror, rain-sensing wipers, and side mirrors with turn signals are also standard. Optional xenon lamps, adaptive headlights, adaptive cruise control, a lane departure warning system, and a rearview camera provide added security.

Sport 4 Dr Sedan

Avg. Price: $16,354

The 2006 Infiniti M45 Sport combines powerful performance with more sport-like handling than the base M45. Under the hood of this rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan sits a 32-valve, 4.5-liter DOHC V8, which delivers 335 hp and 340 ft-lbs of torque at 4,000 RPM. It comes paired with a short-throw 5-speed shiftable automatic and achieves 17/23 mpg. The sport sedan gets a firmer double wishbone front and multilink rear suspension, complemented inside by bolstered sport seats with special stitching and standard climate control (they're heated and cooled). The M45 Sport rides on larger 19-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires. Other upgrades with the 2006 M45 Sport include standard xenon lamps housed in adaptive headlights. Rear active steering controls wheel angle to help smooth out handling during turns.

Standard safety features are extensive. Traction and stability control improve handling. The dual front-side airbags have passenger sensors, and side curtain airbags are standard for both rows. The 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes feature brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. Also standard are front and rear stabilizer bars. A tire monitor, automatic headlights, foglights, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and mirrors with turn signals complete the safety package. Technologically innovative options include a lane-departure warning system, a rearview camera, and intelligent cruise control.

Seating four in leather-wrapped seats, the 2006 M45 Sport provides plenty of legroom (44 inches in the front, 37 in the back), but only 15 cubic feet of trunk space. A rear armrest doubles as a pass-through. Power front seats have driver's memory settings, and power reclining rear seats are optional. Power windows, locks, and heated mirrors, remote start and remote entry (located on the key fob), a sunroof, a trip computer, and power tilt and telescopic steering are all standard. Cruise control, audio controls, and Bluetooth buttons sit on the leather-wrapped steering wheel. The 6-CD changer has MP3 playback and can be upgraded to a Bose sound system with satellite radio. Alloy accents replace the wood in the Sport trim. Intermittent wipers, a tachometer, a temperature readout, a first aid kit, and a front power outlet are also standard. A navigation system, DVD player, rear spoiler, and wood trim are all available options.
