Pros

Stylish, fun-to-drive, easy-to-live with performance.

Cons

It makes my beater '92 oldsmobile feel that much older.

Simply Cannot Be Beat For Its Price. — I honestly have nothing but good things to say about this car. Opting for the 235 hp v6 was a wise decision...as the car can definitely put a smile on your face down a Pennsylvania back road. On a more serious note, the car is simply easy to live with. Comfortable, solid, easy to drive. On the annoyance side, the driver's seat needs some wd-40 as it squeaks a bit, I've just been too lazy to get to it. Gas mileage is decent for a v6...we average about 22-24 mpg around town, in the mountains of western PA. I did have to use my warranty, twice...once for a timing chain tensioner, and again for a startlingly failed alternator. No problems since then, and the car truly is a joy to drive, whether you're pushing it to its limits, or just running errands.

Pros

3.3 L V6 that gets 31 MPG

Cons

Boring to drive

Good College Student Car; There Is A 2.4 L Version Too... — Hyundai's redesign of the Sonata drives great and feels nice to be in. First car I've ever seen that draws 31 MPG hwy out of a V6. It's kind of boring inside except for the Mach Audio system and good working climate control. But, I think the coolest thing they have added is the digital trip computer which now also tells you gas mileage, time driven, and miles to empty along with trip.

Best Car We've Owned — First off, I can't believe we've had our car for 8 years now and it still has the original battery in it and it starts up everyday. it don't matter if it's -20 to 90 degrees out the car always starts. Thanks Hyundai for making such a great car.

The Accountant — Needs the V6, not only for power and pickup, but for resale value, I'm glad I opted for the 6 cylinder. A comfortable reliable, if a bit boring sedan, gives the Camry and Accord a good run for their money. Best warranty in the business, but I've never had to use it. Took me on an hour long commute every day for a year without complaint. Dash is simple, intuitive and well laid out.

Nice Car. Decent Value Proposition — In December 2005, I purchased two Sonatas. Same trim (LX) different colors for me and my wife. We still own them and have driven one 62,000 miles and the other 67,000 miles. Light duty, some highway miles but mostly around town. Overall, the cars have done well by us. They haul family and lots of stuff in the back, they look nice, they are quick and smooth on the acceleration front, and came loaded with lots of goodies. My wife's starter died at 45,000 miles, was replaced under warranty. Her driver's sun visor died at 49,000 miles, was replaced under warranty. My general impression is that Hyundai made a decent car, they packaged it nicely and sold it with a generous value proposition in 2006. A comparable Honda was over $30K and our cars were each $23,400. But now, I've dropped $700 to repair the rear power door locks which started dying at 50,000 miles and replaced that silly sun visor which died out of warranty. I wrote Hyundai asking for some sort of compensation and they originally told me to get lost. Update to this story: I wrote to the President of Hyundai North America in December 2012 and they recently agreed that my situation was unusual and have agreed to stand by their vehicles. I am grateful that someone in Hyundai recognized the importance of brand loyalty. I've changed my tune. Hyundai represents a good value overall, and I will consider purchasing another one in the future. And now, the company apparently stands behind their vehicles and that is an outstanding comfort level increase for me.

Check Engine light: Always emission issues

Laudia

Great Strider — I basically like everything about this car expect two things so far. 1) It seems to always be having some kind of emission issue. First it was the O2 sensor, then it was some vapor leak. Actually my check engine light is on now can't be bother to take it in till my next inspection, I know it has something to do w/ the emission system. 2) I don't know so much if this is an issue with the car of if I just got ripped off by the mechanic. Well, the 3rd light needed to be replace and in order for that to be done, the mechanic told me he had to remove the back seats. Can you say hiked up labor cost, cause I can. Now why would they manufacture a car where replacing a $2.00 blub cost me over $100??

Pros

With Hyundai you get allot of extra's, so in our case for just a little more than the 4cyl. from the competition we got a V6 with leather and CD, Airbags etc. it's quite powerfull for it's class, and has some solidity to it.

Cons

Where to start, for one, this NO! they have not yet caught up with the japanse, we now have had the car for 5 years, and the quality issues have begun to show up, door and other trim is comming off, rubber lining around the moonrof and allong the window casings is nasty, and has problems, sun visor on passengers side wont stay up, even after replacing it twice. Car is skittish over pot holes, and the transmission has problems, and yes we have serviced it with hyundai on time each time.

Was Impressed And Now No Longer So.... It Has Aged Worse Than All Our Other Cars. — Thrashy engine, trim and interior quality is poor over the long run, Aged badly, transmission has always been a little clunky, and in constant need of service. Not yet up to japanese standards.........so you wont accept my review if it's not long enough?

The 2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS 6 cyl. V6 has very nice power, and the 24 mpg/city is a must have in todays market.

Cons

Every car maker has some kind of issues, this sonata has sunvisor and interior door handle problems. Not so bad.

Very Dependable Car, I Have No Ploblem Putting My Family In This Car And Driving Any Where. — This 2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS has very good handling , power brakes and acceleration are touchy. I love the gas mileage and it is a nice looking family car. Standard Equipment items like automatic headlights, alloy wheels, leather steering wheel are nice things to have.
