ProsDecent looks ConsDo not even try offroading... or falling from your driveway to the grass.

Typically Japanese. Sensors Go Bad. — Bought this car for the wife and kids. Manual specifically states "do not go offroad", or something like that. If you are looking to step on grass or stones, or do some fording, get a Land Rover instead. Even an old one. Primary Use: Family transportation

Honda Pilots Are So Real. — I am sold on Pilots. Very simple and work well. Love it. Tons of space in the back, affordable, runs well. I can tow my boat with it. I can put my bike in the back. Im 6'3" and I fit in the car which is nice. Primary Use: Family transportation

I Chose It Over An X5 — i went to a used pre-owned BMW dealer to buy an X5. my mind was made up. i was going to buy an X5, the dealer was janking me around and tried to sell me an X3, i drove it, hated it, then i drove the X5. and i was... underwhelmed... tried the Pilot, and it was great. lower insurance, better fuel economy, more room. and had more kit, for the price. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

ProsThis is a great family car and seats 8 people. The car handles well in dry conditions. ConsPlastic interior scratches easily, exterior paint scratches easily, road noise/rattling.

I Liked The Car Initially And Love Fitting 8 People In There — At 60,000 the timing belt broke along with 2 associated parts. At 75,000 the power steering pump broke and they also told me I need to replace the shocks, power steering fluid and that the third pressure switch is broken and needs to be replaced. Cost for this work is over $2000.00. Leather on drivers side is starting to tear and this car has been garaged and very well maintained. 2/1/2013 - made all the noted fixes last year. Now the rear engine seal is leaking and they tell me it is around a 1200.00 fix. Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsConservative, but neat to look. Nice seats as against normal Japanese cars. Very solid ion handling and smooth operation. ConsCargo space with 3rd seats up can be improved.

Dependable Spacious Comfortable Solid Family Car — Drove the car 120k+ miles. Very minimal issues. No major expenses. Very nice to drive and comfortable. Impressively small turning radius. Packs in lot of space and punch, yet in overall length is shorter than other full size cars. Solid body and paint. Good mileage given the size of the van.

2006 Honda Pilot EX-L w/ Nav Review
ProsGreat SUV with wonderful gas mileage. ConsNavigation system was Honda's first generation, so I had to have it repaired.

Wonderful Pilot — I love my Pilot. Before Honda decided to make it bigger with the '08 model, this model was perfect in both size and price-point. I use it for both travel and commuting. The only complaint is, as per usual, Honda does some really weird things with color options i.e. my interior is Khaki leather. Really? Khaki? No grey? No tan? Must have had a fire sale on that in Japan or something. Primary Use: Family transportation
